Have a student use one of the patterns displayed on the chart paper to step on the corresponding plates. While the student is doing the "bee dance," have other students use the paper and pencils to record the pattern. When the dance is done, have students try to identify which dance it was. Combined with his web of spies and (ahem) foot soldiers, in some ways he’s been more powerful than her. He has knowledge she doesn’t and can get things done that she can’t. She’s the Queen, but in the relationship he seemed to have the upper hand. Or rather he did until their “foot” scene completely reframed their relationship. She has no golden slippers, no dainty foot-ornaments to show her royal rank, nor even an occasional pedicure. Nonetheless, the honey bee queen has precious and fragile feet. The scent of Her Majesty’s pheromone trail is thought to inhibit the construction of queen cups in the hive, thereby suppressing queen-rearing and accordingly, swarming. With a dozen different compounds secreted by the pheromone-producing glands in the queen’s feet, there could be additional messages transmitted.

While it’s true that neither Littlefinger nor Varys is a known arsonist or kinslayer—Larys is indeed ”a dark animal,” as Needham says—the Game of Thrones duo does dirty work, too. Each of the two is a murderer in either A Song of Ice and Fire or Game of Thrones. (In both the books and the show, Baelish supplies the poison that kills Jon Arryn and Joffrey Baratheon; he also murders Lysa Arryn. In A Dance With Dragons, Varys murders Grand Maester Pycelle and Kevan Lannister.) Instead, just carefully shake a drop or two onto the screen surface…. don’t risk crushing the royal tootsies. If that should happen, it would deny her the role as mother of all the bees in her colony and subject her instead to early supersedure and untimely demise. In honey bees, each of the six feet has the same structure and function no matter whether it is the foot of a queen, a drone, or a worker. Pride for power? Dignity for loyalty? Bare feet for control over a dangerous weapon? Is that an exchange worthy of a Queen? Of Alicent Hightower? Of any woman? When it comes to the Iron Throne, and all the danger and death that comes with claiming it, there are never any easy answers.

Consequently, the beekeeper who is the ultimate caretaker of the queen, notwithstanding her bee-retinue within the hive, must at all costs protect her all-important claws and foot-pads from harm. Christie Harris Illustrated Children's Literature Prize (2007) nominee Canadian Children's Book Centre Our Choice, 2007 The slightly aghast oh-no-not-again tone of Ellis's narration is perfectly partnered with the impish sass and inspired silliness of Dusan Petricic's illustrations." With its whimsical humour and its support for the importance of rebellion (in small doses), this foot-stomping read-aloud will please plenty of fidgety youngsters."" -Publishers Weekly And the younger royals are also much taller than Queen Elizabeth II. Prince William is 6 feet, 3 inches, and Kate Middleton is 5 feet, 10 inches (or 5 feet, 9 inches, depending on which source you trust). Prince Harry is 6 feet, 2 inches, and Meghan Markle is 5 feet, 7 inches. So while Queen Elizabeth II isn’t very tall, she’s also not quite as petite as she might appear next to other members of the royal family. The Queen’s Guard doesn’t help, either

This collaboration between Sarah Ellis and talented, award-winning illustrator Dusan Petricic is a lively contribution to picture book collections. . . Think and talk about In particular, whenever the queen is caged for transport or for isolation, the handler must take care never to touch the screen where her feet may be clasping. This collaboration between Sarah Ellis and talented, award-winning illustrator Du an Petricic is a lively contribution to picture book collections. . . The book is full of visual treats." Sarah Ellis's wonderfully whimsical tale will ring a bell with all children and adults whose feet get restless. And Dusan Petricic illustrations may well encourage a little more unroyal behavior. The Queen’s Feet is a picture book about why our parents tries to teach us to act properly. The story is told by a narrator about a queen’s feet doing whatever they want, no matter how inappropriate it seems to society. This book reminds me of the many times when my parents tell me to be quiet or get up from the floor and I had no idea why they would tell me to be what I don’t want to be or act how I don’t want to act. Now I understand that it must be because I was acting like the Queen’s Feet. My favorite part of the book was seeing how the Queen’s Feet compromised in a way that it could be both naughty and proper, just not at the same time. This is just like when my parents allow me to have my silly time and I get to be as silly as I want. My least favorite part of the book was how it didn’t say how people got the Queen to agree to sort it out. I would recommend this book to kids because it is a very fun way to explain to kids why our parents and teachers tell us how to behave sometimes. The moment feels misplaced in an episode full of big dramatic beats stemming from subplots that have been simmering all season long for viewers, and actual decades for the characters. This is part of the discomfort. It’s staged as a prurient reveal, yes, but, like the rest of the episode, what makes it truly notable is what’s missing: contrast. Or, in other words, Rhaenyra. When you see her in photos, Queen Elizabeth II looks quite small. That’s probably because of the family members she often stands next to. Prince William is very tall, at 6 feet 3 inches, and even Prince Charles is somewhere between 5 feet, 8 inches and 5 feet, 10 inches. The queen isn’t nearly as tall as her son and grandson.
