Description

Made from ultra-durable borosilicate glass, COSORI’s Electric Glass Kettle brews up to 1.7 quarts of safe, pure-tasting water. The kettle heats water in seven minutes or less, then automatically shuts off so there is no need to watch the kettle. It also includes “boil dry protection,” which prevents the kettle from turning on when there is no water inside. The wide-mouth opening allows for easy filling and cleaning—and for early risers who brew before the sun comes up, the kettle’s blue LED light indicates when the water is ready. He has reviewed many items for serious eats, including bench scrapers, a smart stand mixer, wine tumblers, and more. Boil-dry protection is a safety feature that some electric kettles are equipped with. The kettle automatically shuts off if it sense there's no water inside. This protects the kettle and its heating elements from damage like warping or melting. No matter how strong your hot chocolate craving might be, it's best not to heat milk in a kettle, especially an electric one. Milk can damage an electric kettle’s heating element and may not initiate the automatic shut-off feature, which means a mess (or worse) might happen. Although it is not preferred, stovetop kettles can be used to heat milk; just make sure to warm the milk slowly and clean the kettle thoroughly immediately afterward. Heating milk in a potor in the microwave is a better option than using a kettle. The oversized opening makes it easy to clean, fill, and pour. And with a 300-milliliter capacity and a whistle that lets you know when the water has reached a rolling boil, the OXO Brew Classic Whistling Kettle will become a welcome companion in your kitchen.

Le Creuset Classic Whistling Kettle Review - The Spruce Eats Le Creuset Classic Whistling Kettle Review - The Spruce Eats

This tea kettle can be used on any type of stovetop: gas, electric, ceramic, radiant ring, and induction. Price: High but worth it

Susteas Stove Top Whistling Tea Kettle: This kettle came in dead last (by nearly a minute) in the 1.5-quart boil speed test. The silicone section of the handle is slightly too small, especially for a bigger hand, so we scalded our hand several times on the exposed metal. The high spout made it difficult to empty and, like the Cuisinart, the Susteas, had a trigger opening that was hard to press up and down. The kettle also makes a weird shaking noise, which we also noticed with the cheaper Mr. Coffee model. For classic boiling with contemporary flair, OXO’s Brew Classic Tea Kettle is an excellent option. The kettle has a wide mouth lid for spill-free filling, an easy-open spout cap, an angled handle that rotates down for storage and rust-resistant stainless steel construction. With its 1.7 quart capacity, you can brew water for one or a crowd in a matter of minutes. The built-in whistle lets you know when the water is ready. Heating speed: We added a liter of water at 50 degrees to each kettle and then timed how long it took to come to a boil, using a medium flame with stovetop models and the high setting with electric ones. We also tested how well the kettles could keep water hot by taking the the temperature of the water 10 and 30 minutes after removing from the heat.

OXO BREW Easy Open Classic Tea Pot Kettle, 1.7-Quart

If you are looking for a classic tea kettle that has a large capacity and a comparatively narrow spout that ensures that the brewing liquid flows steadily into your cup, then you should look no further than the OXO kettle. For anyone who needs to boil a lot of water, this large-capacity kettle will provide ample hot water for you and your whole family. It comes in two sizes, either 4.2 or 6.2 quarts (aka 17 or 25 cups), and has an extra wide lid to make filling and cleaning easy. It’s made of polished 18/10 stainless steel, so not only is it high quality, but it’s nice to look at, too. Take note that the kettle doesn’t have a whistle, so you’ll have to keep an eye or ear on it to know when your water boils. The large opening for filling and cleaning as well as the tight fitting lid are the best features of this kettle. Our favorite thing about this kettle is that the knobs and whistle are heat-resistant. Design: Classic and functional The design-forward Zwilling Enfinigy Electric Kettle Pro looks like it came from an art museum, but it's also highly functional. Its impressive six different temperature settings range from boiling all the way down to 104 degrees for warming up baby formula, as well as a keep-warm function that can hold a temperature for 30 minutes. Other electric kettles we tested heat up faster, but this one's big advantage is its double-walled configuration, which keeps the outside cool to the touch no matter how hot the inside gets. If you've got inquisitive kids around the kitchen (or if you're a little klutzy), it's a nice safety feature. Choose a tea kettle with a capacity that aligns with your tea-drinking needs, including how many people will be drinking tea in your household. Most tea kettles are in the 1-2 quart range, which makes 4-8 cups. Kitchen space is important, too—if you have a small kitchen, you may not want to opt for a large-capacity kettle that will reduce your cabinet or countertop space. OXO Brew Classic Whistling Tea Kettle: 1.7 Quart Brushed Stainless Steel is a 1.7–quart electric kettle with a stainless steel body, soft–grip handle, and brushed stainless steel lid with a stay–cool knob. The lid has an integrated tea–strainer so you can easily brew your favorite loose teas. When you’re ready for tea, this kettle will whistle loudly to let you know it’s time to serve up piping hot tea!

Tea Kettles, Tested and Reviewed - The Spruce Eats The 11 Best Tea Kettles, Tested and Reviewed - The Spruce Eats

Coffee, tea and hot chocolate are not just drinks; they’re a way of life. While the brewing method for coffee and tea varies, the preparation is about the same for all three. Hot water is poured over ground or loose leaf tea leaves, coffee grounds or a combination of chocolate, sugar and milk powder to create the perfect cup of hot cocoa. Ease of cleaning: After boiling several rounds of water in the kettles, we washed them following the manufacturers' directions, noting whether there was any mineral buildup in the kettle or spout, or any stains on the interior or exterior. With electric models, we also noted any difficulties cleaning the heating base or other parts that can't get wet. The OXO Brew Classic Whistling Tea Kettle is our favorite kettle. It has a built-in whistle that alerts you when your water is boiling so you don’t have to worry about overcooking anything by keeping an eye on the stove. The soft-grip handle and wide-opening lid make it easy to grab and pour. Its brushed stainless steel body makes it easy to clean and durable so it’ll last for years. You can use white vinegar, a well-known agent, to clear limescale build-up on stainless steel and electric kettles. Mix one part white vinegar and three parts fresh water in the kettle. Bring the vinegar and water mixture to a boil, and allow it to stand overnight in the kettle. Then drain the kettle a few times with boiling water to ensure there are no lingering odors. I didn’t know. It is impossible to know all the problems of a kettle. They never appear all at once. In most of the cases, there are no problems at all. Thank you for sharing this with us.
