Aesthetically, the jar of Marmite is very striking with its classic yellow lid and eye-catching gold font. Forget the red and yellow label, because this time, Marmite has gone full on extra and I’m so here for it. Madonna performed Live to Tell, honouring the 40.4 million people who have lost their lives to AIDS. Sir Elton John praised her advocacy, compassion, and efforts to raise awareness about ending AIDS. You know what they say about Marmite, you either love it or you hate it, and the new limited edition truffle flavour has certainly divided shoppers. Ingredients: yeast extract (contains BARLEY, WHEAT, OATS, RYE), salt, vegetable juice concentrate, vitamins (thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin B12 and folic acid), natural flavouring (contains CELERY) Sir Elton John said: “Whether it’s through the work of my Foundation or connecting with my fans on the road, I’ve always been about spreading love over hate, and I’m happy to do just that with my limited-edition Marmite jar.

I went crazy for Marmite Gold as soon as the pretty jar arrived at lovefood HQ. I can’t get enough of the salty, spicy, gooey goodness, and think it deserves to sparkle. Toasted brown bread slathered in butter and shiny Marmite? That may well be my favourite food ever. Perhaps it's because Marmite was what I had when I was young and feeling poorly, as this feature on 'poorly' food explains. When combined with a warm piece of toast and oozing melting butter, you’re in for a real treat. Who’d have thought eating toast and Marmite would feel so classy? Georgina Bradford, Nutrition Marketing Director at Unilever, said: “When we spotted Elton’s social post last year, showcasing his extensive and enviable Marmite collection, we declared him a true lover within the ‘Marmy Army’. Then, we thought what better way to mark this love than to bring two British icons together and raise money for a terrific cause. So, when it came to planning this collaboration, we knew we had to do something extra special that both Elton and Marmite fans would love! Can you think of any other love-it-or-hate-it foods? And what do you think about the new gold Marmite? Tell us in the Comments box below…

It's not just our postboxes that have gone gold. now Marmite is in on the act, with a shiny new limited edition jar. The stars aligned on this new collaboration, with 2022 marking a collection of anniversaries for the dynamic duo: Marmite’s 120th birthday, Sir Elton’s 75th birthday and the 30th anniversary of the Elton John AIDS Foundation, a charity committed to overcoming the stigma, discrimination and neglect that keeps us from ending AIDS. We’re confident that Marmite and Elton fans alike will be excited to welcome this new design to their collection and add a touch of glamour to their daily breakfast spread.”

Elton John has been a strong advocate for LGBTQ+ rights and has been vocal about countering hate and violence. The musician spoke out against Suella Braverman’s calls to ban LGBTQ+ asylum seekers from coming to the UK earlier this year, and accused her of “legitimising hate and violence”. He continues to make a positive impact on various social issues, including AIDS and LGBTQ+ rights, using his music and influence to drive change. Sir Elton John has joined forces with fellow British icon Marmite to release a limited-edition jar to raise funds for the Elton John AIDS Foundation (EJAF).

Through our partnership we also work together to spread the love and compassion that is needed to break down the stigma standing in the way of ending Aids for all.” Launching just ahead of Valentine’s Day, Marmite also hopes to help lovers add a bang to their breakfast table for the big day. Perfect on a crumpet, smothered on toast, mixed with smashed avocado or even eaten straight from the jar, the new spread is set to ignite the breakfast occasion on the 14th February. This isn't the first time Elton John has used his platform to draw attention to the AIDS crisis. He recently thanked Madonna for her heartfelt tribute to AIDS victims during her Celebration Tour. Marmite, you’ve seriously impressed me with this one. Although the mixture of truffle and Marmite may sound like a bizarre mix, hear me out, because it actually works really well.

I took a bite into my rather buttery toast lathered in Marmite and was blown away to say the least. I was worried that the truffle would either be too overpowering, or not strong enough, but it was absolutely perfect.
