image with strong shadow delineation in the many poorly-lit interiors and an attractive cinematic quality.

However, resolution wavers more noticeably with several blurry scenes, which are largely the result of the aged photography and the dated visual effects. It’s packed with special features (although full disclosure, these are the same extras that were included on the 2012 Blu-ray set), and so if you’re thinking about adding Indiana Jones to your collection, the 4K set is a no-brainer. As opposed to its predecessor, The Temple of Doomgoes more for the frights and thrills than the typical action-adventure flick, yet Spielberg maintains that same high-spirited sense of excitement as before. Effects are surprisingly enthusiastic, even in the LFE department, with every one of those glorious trademark Indy "telegraphed" punches landing home with a fabulous thwack. and, even as the darkest of the entire saga - dark enough to propel the MPAA to subsequently create the PG-13 rating - it's still a bloody good romp and a hell of an adventure.Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of theCrystal Skull's4K Blu-ray release, like the rest of the films in the set, enjoys a rather decent upgrade in the form of a boisterous Dolby Atmos track, with the High Definition 3D Object-based immersive audio making the most of the frequently over the top outing. Admittedly, the whole monkeys swinging through the jungle with LaBeouf remains pretty lame, but it's really not any crazier than a Nazi-saluting monkey, eating chilled monkey brains for dessert or Marcus Brody monkeying around in general. Although subtle and nuanced, specular highlights add a snappy, resplendent glow to the hottest spots, such as in the fire of torches making them appear more realistic or in the glistening luster of the golden surfaces of the temple or in the narrow, sparkling shimmer of the alien skulls, revealing the tiniest cracks and fractures within. He became Movies Editor in 2019, in which role he has interviewed 100s of stars, including Chris Hemsworth, Florence Pugh, Keanu Reeves, Idris Elba and Olivia Colman, become a human encyclopedia for Marvel and appeared as an expert guest on BBC News and on-stage at MCM Comic-Con.

The Dolby Vision HDR also supplies Janusz Kaminski's purposely over-saturated cinematography with a more dynamic and animated array of yellows and greens, from the deep honey shades of the temple to the dark junipers and emeralds of the jungle foliage. There's a fine sheen of grain, which remains light and pretty damn consistent across the duration, and the composite shots don't tend to stand out as much as on the first - and particularly third - movies, perhaps because they were shot more cleverly, or perhaps there were less modern trappings (aircraft being a curse for the third entry in this department). Better still is a sumptuous array of deep caramel browns, golden yellows and sandy tans during the film's second half in the desert, and scenes with fire and torches brighten the screen in a vibrant tiger orange glow. And it does so rather spectacularly, nicely capturing the general quality of pulp science fiction mixed with a great deal of humor. Following a trail from America to Venice to the deserts of the Middle East, it’s up to Indy(Harrison Ford) to save his father, save the Grail and save the day in this non-stop, action-packed adventure the whole family will treasure. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade is arguably the greatest second sequel of all time, mixing things up with the superb - simply perfect - addition of Sean Connery, and providing some of the best on-screen chemistry and comedy that the franchise has ever known.

Updated daily and in real-time, we track all high-def disc news and release dates, and review the latest disc titles. Detail continues to impress on the second film in the set, right from the get go, with even the glitzy opening credits holding up quite well; facial textures and clothing weaves impressively rendered once again, and only a handful of fitfully soft shots across an otherwise gloriously rendered landscape. There isn't always quite as much material for the overheads, but they do get in on the action, and there's no denying the dynamics, nor the superior sound design which brings the soundscape alive all around you. To achieve this tearful reunion, the filmmakers have Indy and his father take part in the same idealistic pilgrimage.

And on top of that, they add a welcomed twist to the series with Sean Connery joining the adventures as Indy's father, bringing a great deal of comedy to the mix and making the movie almost equal to Raiders. It's crazy to think that, back in '89, they were already making " you belong in a museum" jokes about Ford's Indy, but it had been the best part of a decade since the first movie. Hang on tight as the world's ultimate action hero takes you on a heart-pumping roller-coaster ride of adventure that's guaranteed to keep you on the edge of your seat.

Experience one exciting cliffhanger after another when you discover adventure with the one and only Indiana Jones. If I already own these movies or if they’re floating around on some kind of streaming service, do I really need to shell out the money for the 4K version? On top of that, the extra-breathing room displays a cleaner and better-defined mid-range, exhibiting superb warmth and separation in the upper frequencies. Paramount Home Media Distribution has officially announced that it will release on 4K Blu-ray Indiana Jones: 4 Movie Collection (1981-2008).While you wait – or to prep for the new movie – you can watch all four other Indiana Jones movies on Disney+ if you're a subscriber.
