The vanity areahas comfortable seats with hairdryers, straighteners and giant-sized hairspray for ultimate coiffing; around the corner, there are large showers containing Bamford shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. Help yourself to a fresh towel, of which there are plenty, after showering.

Set above Cardiff Bay, the Marin is one of Wales’s leading spas, with a focus on organic, raw ingredients; product ranges include La Rue Verte, which utilises CBD, and Ishga treatments, created from Scottish seaweed and spring water. The indoor hydrotherapy pools are filled with water that has been treated to replicate mineral and salt-rich seawater, and the dry-heat sauna is designed to help rejuvenate skin and muscles, and detoxify the body. Rooms are a touch corporate, but come with impressive, panoramic views over the city and sea beyond. You’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to treating yourself to a treatment or two. A tempting spa menu includes holistic therapies, reflexology, personalised hypnotherapy, and sublime massages and facials, such as the delicious Temple Spa Champagne and Truffles Deluxe facial. This is a slice of ancient Rome buried deep in a subterranean corner of Covent Garden, set in a neo-classical townhouse, once the home of JM Barrie. Inside, you’ll find a luxurious cavern of candlelit pools, replete with arches and columns. Aire first opened in Seville 20 years ago and now has outposts in New York, Chicago and Copenhagen among others. There are pools to suit all tastes: a salt bath you can float in, one that’s piping hot, and the aptly named Frigidarium, at 14C. There’s a steam room and sauna, and in true Roman style, a red wine bath treatment, too. To satisfy your hunger pangs, head to the Vitale Café Bar and sample tempting Mediterranean dishes such as pasta, flatbreads, salad and paninis, washed down with a chilled glass of Prosecco. You can try wood-fired pizzas, plenty of fish – including a Cornish catch of the day - pasta dishes, salads and several dessert choices, including rhubarb and custard choux buns and a selection of local cheeses. As always, we'd also like to say a hugethank you to all of our amazing sponsors, without whom the Good Spa Guide Awards could not betheindustry event celebratinganotheryear ofallthingsspa. The indoor/outdoor hydrotherapy poolhas a swan pipe - great for pummelling weary shoulders - and a button-operated sliding door opening to the outside, where views over the beautifully-tended gardens await. Bali is just one of hundreds of islands that make up Indonesia. Many of these islands have evolved their own special kind of Indonesian massage. All of the massages fuse ancient traditions and practices into treatments that will help your body to heal physically and spiritually, and leave you feeling wonderful. Here are a few examples: It’s no surprise that this impressive, newly-refurbished woodland-inspired spa in the heart of Sherwood Forest was voted winner of the Best Day Spa by the 2021 Good Spa Guide Awards. Whether you paid a lot or a little, do you feel you're getting your money's worth? You should. If you don't, tell them. Products

Christmas is over, the goose is getting fat (or is that just me)… it’s that time of year when our thoughts turn to healthy eating, shedding the pounds and booking something to look forward to. So where better than a UK spa visit, with its absence of pre-flight testing, some much-needed time out and some good grub? A newbie on the Yorkshire spa scene, Three Graces Spa invites you to take a deep breath and connect with the present, whatever the weather. If the sun makes an appearance, spa goers can swim lengths in the18-metre heated outdoor pool, relax in a sunken cedar hot tub or take a dip in the indoor-outdoor hydrotherapy pool. Raining? Swim in the indoor, Grecian-inspired pool. Enjoy a treatment by Ila or Natura Bissé, and take lunch or a cream tea in the pastel-hued spa lounge with its central (and real) tree and outdoor terrace overlooking Grantley Hall’s manicured gardens. Walking into the Coach House (designed by contemporary artist Brian Clarke) is like entering a stained-glass window: saturated colour, Josef Frank-esque fabrics and excellent food ensure this isn’t your average spa day. While facials and pedicures are available, beauty offerings are secondary to wellness, with a focus on naturopathy and serious biodynamic massage. Locals visit early to bathe in the heated outdoor pool. The theme of the spa is ‘bringing the outside in’ which it does via glass walls and outdoor terraces.

Lomi lomi' translates to 'rub rub' in Hawaiian, and reflects the broad, flowing strokes made with the therapist's fingers, thumbs, palms, arms and elbows. Macadamia, palm and coconut oils are usually used as moisturisers in lomi lomi massage, to keep the strokes smooth and to nourish the skin. Many believe that thehealing artof Lomi lomi was brought toHawaiiby the earliestPolynesiansettlers, while others believe that it is deeply infused with the practice of ‘livingaloha’ - a carry-over from ancientHawaiiand the mystical land of Mu. TheHawaiianlomi lomimassagecan also be referred to asKahunabodywork. Benfits of Lomi lomi massage

Set in the 163-acre Galgorm Estate, this Spa & Thermal Village is the first of its kind in Northern Ireland, offering an array of indoor and outdoor pools, alfresco hot tubs, saunas and steam rooms, and even a snow cabin. There are plenty of spa treatments, but the real therapy here is lazing in warm waters surrounded by open countryside, or under starlit skies (the pools are open into the evening). Rooms come with King Koil mattresses and lovely garden or river views, and there are three superb restaurants to choose from. Thermal waters are the nectar of the spa world – after all this is where the concept of spa was first born. At The Gainsborough Bath Spa, guests can draw warm spring waters from the comfort of their own room, a UK first. The Romanesque Spa Village is quite something. There are three substantial thermal pools in which to wallow – the largest set under a glass-roofed atrium – as well as saunas and a steam room. The wide range of massages have anAsian‑influence including theFreedom Water Treatment, a form of Watsu which takes place in the thermal waters. Winner of The Best Urban Spa in the 2021 Good Spa Guide Awards, the spa at The Lanesborough provides the perfect escape from the pressures of city life. Set within the Regency splendour of one of London’s grandest hotels, its glossy Art-deco interiors, marble floors, gold mirrors and dark-panelled wood exude opulence and give it the wow factor.Staff warmly greeted us in the light and spacious receptionarea, with its exposed wood and colourful artwork. We loved the living wall behind the desk and the giant pebble stools in the main area. Taking a seat, we filled in consultation forms while sipping chamomile tea before being shown around the spa. Using the Bamford Nurturing skincare products, the treatment concluded with a heavenly face and scalp massage, Britt placing an amethyst stone on my head to help balance my mind’s chakra. My therapist, Lauren, met me in the chic treatment lounge and led me to a tastefully beige treatment room. She spoke knowledgably about the treatments and products, and we discussed any concerns – a hormonal chin break-out and longing for plump dewy skin. Lauren then left me to disrobe and lay face up on the adjustable bed.
