I’d say the one day that really sticks in the memory for me was in episode three when me and Mike Sadler, played by Tom Glynn-Carney, meet. The narrative begins in a Cairo hospital in 1941, when, after a failed training exercise, British Army officer David Stirling has the idea of creating a special commando unit which could operate deep behind enemy lines. A more conventional approach would have been to simply focus on success upon success, but these are real men with real flaws who made mistakes along their paths to victories.

And then we had to find David Stirling and I count myself quite fortunate that I was included in part of that process and was able to read with one or two actors for the role.

Making sure everyone was drinking enough water, eating enough food and it was a lovely environment to be in. The new Netflix drama tells a familiar story about a pharmaceutical company in the midst of America's opioid crisis - but is it a true? Once we got out there, that was really the only time we all got together as a crew and started to sort of get the feeling of being brothers in arms.

Previously a company of Free French paratroopers, the French SAS squadron were the first of a range of units "acquired" by Major Stirling as the SAS expanded. a b "First full-length trailer and new pictures released for SAS Rogue Heroes, coming soon to BBC One and iPlayer". The series will be executive produced by Karen Wilson, Emma Kingsman-Lloyd and Martin Haines for Kudos, and Nick Lambon for the BBC. He proved to be a gift to the newly formed SAS, pioneering the use of military jeeps to conduct surprise hit-and-run raids to destroy enemy aircraft and petrol dumps, and leading several successful missions, some of which we’ll see in the course of SAS: Rogue Heroes.Already fooling the Italians with a bogus parachute unit, the First Special Air Service Brigade, he lent the name to Stirling, and the organisation has borne it ever since. He is a columnist and Associate Editor at The Times, and has worked as the newspaper's correspondent in New York, Paris and Washington. They will serve alongside new recruits Mark Rowley (The Last Kingdom, The North Water) and Jack Barton (Heartstopper, War of the Worlds), who will play SAS members Jock McDiarmid and John Tonkin respectively.

SAS Rogue Heroes will air on BBC One and iPlayer in the UK, MGM+ in the United States, and is distributed internationally by Banijay Rights. The history needs scarcely any embellishment, though he tells it with flair: the simple facts of SAS activity make the “ripping yarns” of comic book heroes pale by comparison. But the SAS did bring to life the plucky, maverick, individualist hero of the comic strip, a very British way of making war. A wonderfully refreshing account of the origins of the regiment of balaclava-clad silent killers during the Second World War.This put him in considerable danger - once found, he penned a heartfelt letter to Eoin’s mother offering condolences. It featured one of the most bizarre figures to emerge from the story: a Belgian textile merchant, Robert Melot. Others argue that downgrading a VC was a standard practice, and Mayne was not alone in receiving this treatment. These are the things Tom and myself really wanted to dive into, and what I think is going to make this show so special.
