I was worried that this process would be rather too repetitive and boring, but it wasn't bad at all in the end, and productive besides. I’d like to recommend a recently published book series that’s designed for learners, which I found out about while browsing the foreign language section in Waterstone’s. There's a section titled "How to Read Effectively" and "The Six-Step Reading Process," which I found to be really cool. Some of the stories—-well, maybe most of them—-are strange, but they might appeal more to a teenager.

There's also a very informative and helpful introduction and quite a bit of info in the front of this book on how to use it best. And the words I do know come to me much more quickly - I no longer have a lag like I often did when I started this. The stories were mostly pretty lame, but I was okay with that as long as I felt like I was improving my spanish as I read them. A very useful feature of this book series is that the stories feature the 1000 most frequent words in Spanish, as well as most common grammatical structures and idiomatic expressions, so you’re effectively learning and consolidating all these as you read the stories. However for familiarising yourself with these factors and using alongside your learning I think it is worthy of having in your library.It boosted my confidence and really solidified the idea of learning through immersion, and in particular through stories.
