About this deal

Roy Grace, Detective Superintendent and head of the high crime unit, faces a dilemma in the latest in this wonderful police procedural series, now numbering thirteen: evidence that one of his own squad may be a murderer. Roy Grace, creation of the CWA Diamond Dagger award winning author Peter James, faces his most mysterious case yet in Need You Dead .

I have a confession, Peter James in one of my favourite authors so I am always excited at the thought of reading one of his novels. DISCLOSURE: I own my copy of Need You Dead by Peter James, published by MacMillan, thanks to my husband who gave me this copy for Christmas. The first one, Dead Simple, was excellent and the plot of this one involving the detective work is good. Then, she didn't die at home but in a rather seedy little flat - bolt hole from her husband or love nest for an affair? This is the 13th book in the Roy Grace books, this is a series that is so well paced and consistently of a very high standard. I'm struggling to provide more detail without spoiling things for readers who haven't read the previous books in the series so I'll move on.

I am so pleased to have followed the advice of a Peter James fan and read a novel from the Roy Grace series. Nothing is as it seems and investigating officers need to refer constantly to the ABC basics; assume nothing, believe no one, challenge everything. The characters are plausible; it's easy to visualise these relatively ordinary people whose behaviour is tipped out of kilter. There was no need for graphic descriptions of the horrific event, all it took was a telephone conversation and my own imagination.under his belt, he has achieved global book sales of over 19 million copies to date, and has been translated into 37 languages. Roy Grace, creation of the CWA Diamond Dagger award winning author Peter James, faces his most mysterious case yet in Need You Dead. There were a lot of dry, boring police procedural passages which I usually enjoy in these books, but it didn't work this time. This is a story about a victim, not a body count, a pure quality realistic police investigation into a death of a woman to find out if it was suicide, accident or staged but it goes far deeper. His rapport with all his work colleagues features very strongly throughout, as we get a peek into the personal issues of their daily lives.

A dedicated man to his career but also one that has learnt lessons the hard way in the past about getting that balance between work and home. After hearing that his ex-wife has committed suicide in Germany, he discovers that he has a ten-year old son, Bruno, that he knew nothing of. for a stand-alone about a police detective, a developmentally delayed boy, and a package everyone in North Dakota wants to grab. Whilst it works very well as a standalone, reading in sequence will certainly add to the reading experience.I like Peter James portrayal of Detective Superintendent Roy Grace as a soft and caring person to his staff and family. There was a real sense of the tremendous impact that something like this has on everyone involved and how at times a trail can lead to a suspect and a subsequent crime not related to the original investigation. ABOUT THIS BOOK: Lorna Belling, desperate to escape the marriage from hell, falls for the charms of another man who promises her the earth. Detective Superintendent Roy Grace was getting ready to go to Germany to pick up his son Bruno when he caught a case of the death of Lorna Belling. Like a game of chess, Grace is forever moving from square to square seemingly one space behind all the time.
