It was such a pleasure to meet you both, and I really appreciated how smoothly and professionally you ran everything. There was just the right amount of choice to suit everyone without being overwhelming and I received comments from parents and staff about the quality of books offered compared to previous sales which have always been based around current crazes and well known celebrity authors. Famous for her use of rhyming verse, Julia Donaldson CBE is one of the most popular children's authors of our time and it's easy to see why.

They would also only drop off a case of books and leave us to run it – it was so lovely to have you on hand to chat to the children and recommend them books, as well as the small (but appreciated! This fantastic activity book is based on the brilliant new picture book The Baddies, by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. This fabulous picture book from superstar author and illustrator Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler is a riot of slapstick fun and silliness. When a girl moves into the cottage next door, they compete with each other to see who can be the meanest, scariest, baddest baddie of all. We work separately – he’s in London and I’m in Glasgow – but he sends me letters with lovely funny pictures on the envelopes. With Julia Donaldson’s (author of The Gruffalo) trademark quirky humour and rhyming text and Axel Scheffler’s detailed illustrations, there are lots of fun things to spot as you read and reread the text.

Once again, Julia Donaldson’s rhyme scan is perfect, while the humorous interaction between these three horrors is a joy. You guys were so fab and Dawn was such a lovely presence in the schools - I will absolutely be in touch next time I'm in your neck of the woods. Room On The Broom will always be my favorite book from this team (Axel Scheffler's illustrations couldn't be more wonderful) but this book about three baddies trying to bully, scare, and magic a blue spotted hanky from a new little girl in the neighborhood is right up there. More about Julia: “I grew up in a tall Victorian London house with my parents, grandmother, aunt, uncle, younger sister Mary and cat Geoffrey (who was really a prince in disguise.

I was at my last school for 4 years and we had ********* book fairs every term – and every term, I was disappointed by the narrow range of books. We work separately - he’s in London and I’m in Glasgow - but he sends me letters with lovely funny pictures on the envelopes. A funny and frock-filled story for modern children who don't just want sequins and sparkles on their dresses, from rising star Lily Murray and Waterstones Prize-winning illustrator, Jenny Lovlie. Axel went on from school to study History of Art at the University of Hamburg – but he didn’t like the course and decided to leave.

There are fancy dresses, frilly dresses, stripy dresses, silly dresses, sun dresses, fun dresses, blue dresses, green. Bookwagon recommends this treat for bedtime reading, reading in school, enjoying together and sharing. Your child will giggle their way through this comic tale of three very bad, silly, and completely hopeless storybook characters who dare each other to steal a hanky-chief from a young girl walking through their woods. It's decent enough, with bright illustrations, some good rhymes and a brown skinned girl on the front (instead of the usual pink), but this is a mid-range effort in the Donaldson/Scheffler canon.

With Donaldson’s heartwarming, inspirational messages about being brave and standing up to bullies, a wise and enchanting story in a rhyme perfectly created for reading aloud, and Scheffler’s stunning and richly detailed illustrations providing lots to spot on every page, this is a creative partnership made in children’s reading heaven! A lighthearted story with a subtle feminist undertone that celebrates the joy of pockets, and how they can unleash the inquisitive, adventurous spirit of all young children. Keeps little ones grinning and guffawing from the first colour-soaked page to the last hilarious line of this fresh, funny and exuberant rhyming story . My little nitpick: I wish the author or editor had caught the double use of the phrase "as could be," and changed one of them to something else. Common Sense is the nation's leading nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of all kids and families by providing the trustworthy information, education, and independent voice they need to thrive in the 21st century.

Published just in time for Halloween, I had great hopes for this story featuring a ghost and a witch (and a troll). Therefore, each of them looks at the girl with the spotted hanky who moves into the cottage longingly. After all, the witch longs to make magic, while the ghost plans to haunt her and the troll has plans for ‘ his big bulgy belly‘! They are always so much fun to read with the little people in my life and the illustrations are always bright, cheerful and fun. Each individual attempt was met with a surprise act from their neighbor, and the results was complete failure by the baddies. This experience has been fantastic primarily for the children, the school and also for me (professionally).
