My suggestion is to try and read the "Birthday Bunny" story on each page, and then read the "Battle Bunny" changes.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. He illustrated two books, one in the old fashioned “Golden Book” style we all are familiar with and one in the illustrations of a small, defiant, talented book vandal! Featuring layered, original artwork that emphasizes Alex’s additions, this dynamic exploration of creative storytelling is sure to engage and inspire. and Chloe and the Lion (both illustrated by Adam Rex), and the New York Times bestseller Extra Yarn.Starred Review* This deliciously subversive piece of metafiction skewers—with a sharp wit and a sharper pencil—the earnest, purposeful literature so popular in the middle of the last century.

All this begs the question: Is this book good in its own right or is this just a case of cleverness for cleverness’s sake? and Chloe and the Lion (both illustrated by Adam Rex), and The New York Times bestseller Extra Yarn (9781406352481). I so want to get this for my little great-nephew, but am unsure when it would be age-appropriate for him, as it clearly requires a kid old enough to get the joke. I wish I was teaching in a classroom because it would have been a book that I would have brought into the classroom to share with kids (yes, even my middle schoolers. While an action story for children can definitely be an engaging story, this one is seriously overdone. I have actually heard about this book through one of my book friends’ reviews and as I was reading their review on this book, I was immediately interested and I went right away to my library to pick up this book! It had to be someone capable of drawing not just a mockery of ootsy-cutesy bunny tales, but also a realistic kid/stick drawing style.

When a crusade is announced, it's unknown if the army with be operational when it reaches it's staging point. Only super-agent, and badly drawn, Alix can save the world from the devastation of the world’s ecology and architectural heritage in a final birthdoomsday struggle. As a child, I was prone to such flights of fantasy so the drawings ring true, if a little disturbingly. I have no particular issue with the dark sense of humour on show; some kids love the likes of Horrible Histories. The back cover suggests that the book is suitable for ages 5-9 (or 10 or 11 or 87, as Alex has added)…and truly, any kid with a sense of humor will probably enjoy this. Also worth noting - I showed the book trailer to my class and they ask me about 15 times a day if I have bought the book yet! In this hilarious send-up of over-sweetened, "fuzzy wuzzy" children's books, mayhem and side-splitting chaos rule the day.

Be sure to look at them closely--a lot of kids' classics get parodied in them, like "The Tale of Peter Rabbit" and the Winnie-the-Pooh books. An adorable rabbit's journey through the forest becomes a secret mission to unleash an evil plan – a plan that only Alex can stop. Author Jon Scieszka Talks About Spoonfuls of Stories Children's Author Jon Scieszka Reads from Truckery Rhymes Children's Author Jon Scieszka Discusses the Inspirations Behi. This is an example of exactly how kids are told not to interact with their books—and that’s what makes it so effective. The book has a well-worn look to it, with roughed up corners (or at least simulated pictures of roughed up corners).

The way that Alex inserts himself into the modified story reminds me of the Chester books by Mélanie Watt.
