The idea of ‘guided reading’ in the Science of Reading foundation classroom is a simple, yet muti-faceted proposition. If you wish to book on this course after the course deadline please contact us on 01629 536546 and ask to speak to Sion Denton. If you wish to book on this course after the course deadline please contact us on 01629 536546 and ask to speak to Samantha Jennings. There is necessary repetition throughout the Teacher Books as, in practice, no one adult may find that they deliver the full programme to the same learner or learners (for example, the learners may have progressed to another year and another teacher). NNP incorporates not only a systematic approach to teaching phonics that is consistent, precise and effective but it is ambitious in terms of the richness of the language.

I talked about the need to focus on skill development rather than ‘reading levels’ for our beginning readers and exactly what you can teach them at each stage of their reading development. I not only created resources to address reading and writing nuances on tests and in the classroom, but by doing so, alleviated the workload of scoring piles of written responses. The learner applies and extends phonics code knowledge, handwriting and new vocabulary, whilst developing language comprehension, via 12 Mini Story pages. Each box includes: 3 teacher books (Key Stage 1, Lower Key Stage 2 and Upper Key Stage 2) - two copies of each; a copy of Babcock's unique Sentence Toolkit to help your students get to grips with the building blocks of grammar; a USB stick containing editable versions of all the activities and resources and video guidance from the lead author on how to use the programme in your school; 26 Raintree PDF eBooks for use as exemplar texts in your grammar teaching. If you have been reading my blog of any length of time you will know that I am a MASSIVE advocate for explicit teaching in early literacy skills. No Nonsense Grammar is a complete grammar programme designed to meet the needs of the National Curriculum in a manageable way. Contains editable resources and video guidance from Babcock LDP, with a teacher's book for each year, Years 2-6. There are over 200 sequences, all of which are available in Word format, so that teachers can make their own adaptations to suit their class.

The writing has been annotated, much like an exemplification file, to show how the judgements have been made. The teaching sequences follow a three-part plan: Learning about the text, practising writing and independent writing. See further information about teaching sequences here and the texts we have written the sequences around. Our curriculum is inspired by high quality texts and reading for pleasure, and NNP encourages children’s curiosity about new vocabulary. The changes were made to reflect Capstone’s acquisition of the assets of Buncee LLC and to comport with new privacy laws. This course provides an introduction to No Nonsense Grammar and includes activities to help delegates become familiar with the lesson plans, the teaching sequence and the supporting resources.

No Nonsense Spelling is a complete spelling programme, created by the Babcock LDP Literacy team in response to Devon teachers concerns over implementing the New Curriculum. The team, made up of experienced KS1-2 teachers and advisers, saw great results in Devon and collaborated with Raintree Publishers to offer the programme to the whole country. Assessment of Writing is an innovative set of resources providing support and guidance to help teachers make accurate, evidence-based assessments of writing across KS1 and KS2 and establish appropriate expectations for each year group.
