About this deal

I recommend this book to young children as it is a new, funny alternative to approach the subject of healthy eating, and the pictures will allow children to be inspired as a result of it. Continue your discussion of Oliver’s Vegetables by asking why his grandparents wanted him to eat his vegetables? Although the story is aimed at children who won't eat veg, it is delightful and appeals to all - veg and non veg eaters.

The botanical definition of a fruit is a structure formed by a pollinated flower that contains the seeds. Oliver is a fussy eater who would only eat chips and nothing else until he plays a game with his Grandpa. She has won many awards for her books, and is regularly invited to festivals including Cheltenham and the Edinburgh International Book Festival. From major author Vivian French, this colourful seek-and-find tale puts the joys of healthy eating at the top of the menu. We borrowed it from the library and will be picking up a copy of our own soon as we can't bear to part with it! The discovery process he goes through, trying new vegetables with his grandfather makes for a gentle read with children. This is a great book to link with maths as it rehearses the days of the week and the illustrations offer many opportunities for counting and working out how many vegetables.

It is important for young students to learn that just because one part of a plant is edible, that does not mean all the other parts should be eaten. In layman’s terminology, a fruit is something that comes from a plant that is sweet and usually eaten as a dessert or snack. This overall should show children the benefits of trying new foods and the importance of eating a healthy diet. This is the third Oliver book apparently, although the first one I have read, not that it matters with these books.

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. An excellent book for parents with slightly fussy children, which also introduces the days of the week. One day Oliver goes to his grandparents’ house – where they grow their own vegetables -to the disgust of Oliver, who insists ‘I don’t eat vegetables! Small taste sessions after each new vegetable are a must and it really encourage children to become curious about new and exciting vegetables. The 103 third parties who use cookies on this service do so for their purposes of displaying and measuring personalized ads, generating audience insights, and developing and improving products. So, I decided to give this book a try, knowing that it would be lobbying for kids to eat their vegetables.
