Now on to M-11 which also looked bigger and better in the 16x bino which looked like a large globular and was quite pleasing at 16x. In the unlikely case of a failure, Crestron's Detachable Modular Component design allows for rapid repair in the field. At first I put together the circuit with a mosfet, having just succesfully implemented an LED controller in a Tetris Light using the same technique of an ESP8266 controlling a mosfet (though that one faded in and out very nicely — this would just be a hard on or off. I'll be able to put them in the case and go to the side of the mountain and look across the lake and take them other places because they are't heavy at all, plus I will be able to brace my arms on a chair and hand hold these which is way too hard to do with 20x80's ! The planet itself was rounded and sharp looking with no detail and the smaller planets around it were pinpoint and very crisp, (I then held the binos on my fence for a steady wobble-free view and it was much nicer to see then hand held -for this target anyways).

At the time I had a pretty extensive collection of AV gear in my rack, and it powered two different systems in my home. Many other focal lengths were made and the war surplus 5 inch f/4 was used by Harold Ridley as a 5inch x 4inch enlarging lens giving excellent results although designed as a taking lens. The code starts off just waiting for 5 seconds, then reads the current status of the amp and then “presses” the override button by connecting it to ground briefly. Due to the cost of replacing all of the output board relays with 12V relays they were removed and replaced with 20ga copper wires.

It even handled low volume playback perfectly — that was always an issue with my Emotiva Fusion Flex, listen too quietly and the amp would just shut off your music entirely. Totally cloudy last night, but I think the Ross 16x60 has a light alloy barrel rather than plastic, but it may be thin and if you tap it it seems to 'ring' or vibrate. I desoldered and reused the input capacitors (C8A/C9A) from the 16x60 inverting input (the 1k input resistor R14A can also be resused). Some resoldering later, and now we have a cable with “left” output wired to pin 2, “right” output to pin 3, and ground remains connected to pin 1. The override button is a nice workaround if you don’t have a full Crestron install, but it’s necessary to hit that button any time the Cresnet power source resets.

They fit well into the room and I have binding posts nearby with speaker cables snaking down to the basment AV rack, giving the setup a very clean look with no other visible equipment besides the speakers. I have a beefy Panamax power-strip that has built in 12V trigger support already, so I plugged the laptop power supply into that and plugged that into the Cresnet power socket. The addon board is then soldered to the back side of the amplifier board using 4 header pins (which happen to align close enough to work well). I had it all working with my LED test loads but once I moved the new circuit down to the Crestron amp in the rack and wired it up, I found the circuit starting behaving unpredictably.

Rather than claiming 220W it seems more reasonbale to expect 200W given that it is using the bridge circuit from the 2x60 amplifier. I got used to it right away because I like this kind of power and image scale after having 20x80's and 25x100's, plus this bino is nice and light . The one you posted does have level adjustments while this one does not, but I don't see how those would offer any benefit with this type of use.

Only cons are control requires CresNet via a Crestron control processor if you don't want to manually hit the Bypass switch, it is heavy, and it idles at about 100 watts, last I checked, which means that you need ventillation.

When I worked at the Booth Museum, the stuffed specimens of the winter and summer for forms of the Hare and Stout where very popularly used in teaching camouflage.

For a short time, I ran one XLS 2500 bridged per 15” subwoofer — which was definitely too much power and I killed a driver.
