As one of the medium's most important innovators since the early 1980s, Moore has influenced an entire generation of comics creators, and his work continues to inspire an ever-growing audience. For any other comic, I would'nt approve of the larger than life storyline with heaven and hell, good and evil.

His deconstruction of the classic monster stretched the creative boundaries of the medium and became one of the most spectacular series in comic book history.

The issues collected in the first Absolute Edition are so wildly ambitious, outstripping even Frank Miller's work on Daredevil around the same time for envelope-pushing scripting and paneling, that it's wild that the work here surpasses it. He has also written a novel, Voice of the Fire, and performs "workings" (one-off performance art/spoken word pieces) with The Moon and Serpent Grand Egyptian Theatre of Marvels, some of which have been released on CD. Alan Moore, vuelve a crear un personaje del que no puedes escapar, te conmociona su pureza y los dibujos de la Cosa de Stephen Bissette y John Totleben no podrían ser más precisos reflejando la belleza. This one moved a bit slower for my taste and while it was cool for Swamp Thing to start getting more powers and used to his new state - there was a lot that was still left somewhat unsatisfying to me. The Art as well makes me really stare at the Image to take everything in, and the way it’s all sequentially told is beautiful.

I read some reprints of a few of the seminal issues over the years, and I read the entirety of the New 52 run in real time, along with the various one-offs and miniseries since then, but I'd never gotten to experience complete arcs of the series when it was in the hands of Alan Moore, Stephen Bissette, and John Totleben. The art follows the psychedelic nature of the stories very well, and it is a bit better than the first volume overall. But at the same time I don’t really like stories about heaven and hell and I surely don’t care about it being the focal point or the stakes of the story. There are a couple more appearances in this book mostly because of the tie in to Crisis on Infinite Earth, we see Batman, Cain, Abel, Doctor Fate, Zattana and a couple of Moore's favorites like Deadman, The Phantom Stranger and Etrigan. My brother and I rapaciously watched the movies and TV series as kids, and we collected all of the figures from the short-lived animated series. This is as good as it gets for me, I did read this on the tail end of my Vertigo reading list which made me appreciate it even more. The first volume was a look at what Swamp Thing was to himself but here we find out more about his place in the DC universe and adding a character like John Constantine to the mix was a stoke of genius. The mossy look and feel of the cover is just like the first one, and still great and in the end a couple cool extra's make this yet another great edition with some minor faults, but still a great piece of work.

It is an improvement over the first volume, in part because it's more cohesive, consistent and there are no random stories that don't help the main plot. The debate about the new colouration aside (come on, you don't expect that at some point DC won't try and re-release this with the original colours and try and charge us all again, but enough about that pond-scum of a company. Se è vero che Gaiman dice apertamente di essersi ispirato a quest’opera di Moore, è anche vero che quando conosci direttamente le due opere inevitabilmente tendi a sovrapporle, confrontarle.

The recoloring by Steve Olif is much debated, but i think it looks great, and the artwork by Bissette, Totleben and Veitch among the best i have ever seen, there are a couple fill in artists but they are all great.Upon sliding the massive tome out of its slipcase, I was delighted to discover an unexpectedly mossy feel to the cover. The giant event at the end doesn't feel very satisfying to me, because I don't understand the rules of the combat at all, so it feels arbitrary when the heroes eventually win. He took a formulaic monster comic, and turned it into a more poetic one, addressing environmental issues and social issues, while also honoring its horror and fantasy roots. Author Alan Moore and illustrators Stephen Bissette, John Totleben, Rick Veitch, Shawn McManus, Ron Randall and Dan Day join together to rise from the swamps in slipcased hardcover edition, Absolute Swamp Thing by Alan Moore Vol. Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item.
