Description

Conceptual and development art for Brother Bear, accompanied by the film's score, is described by art director Robh Ruppel and Byron Howard, the supervising animator of Kenai. So the "family friendly" version would probably depict the "human" part of the film correctly, but then crop off the sides of the "bear" part, so that the film would seamlessly be the same size/ratio. If it is true that Disney has decided to forsake for the foreseeable future traditional cel-animated features, then Brother Bear is a triumphant swan song -- or bear song, if you prefer.

Voice Cast: Joaquin Phoenix (Kenai), Jeremy Suarez (Koda), Jason Raize (Denahi), Rick Moranis (Rutt), Dave Thomas (Tuke), D. This Disney is one of the rare ones that passed me by and after hearing Aaron mention it on his Youtube site and some videos on how he animated it I couldn't pass it up. After successfully completing a puzzle, you are treated to a short montage of facts and clips of the animal whose part you just assembled. We got the DVD and there are two discs, one has the movie in a "family friendly" version, the other is the original. The aspect ratio shift comes at the moment of transformation, when Kenai's perspective of the world changes. I've never been a Phil Collins fan, but 'On My Way' was a good tune and the story was very strong and very well animated.

The two Moose Brothers Rutt and Tuke (played by Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas) produce an audio commentary which will have the adults laughing out loud but the jokes will go straight over the kids' heads. With five great new songs from Academy Award® winner* Phil Collins, it's "pure Disney magic from beginning to end! In a time when wooly mammoths still existed, a Native American teenager (no, he’s not Cro Magnon) anxiously awaits the initiation ceremony that will usher him into manhood. The universal literary and cinematic theme of 'the journey' present in Brother Bear is a part that works. I especially like how the film introduces very young children to another culture and way of looking at the world (without the preachiness of Pocohontas).

Having watched the latter version, I believe that I remember black bars appearing above and below the picture for the "bear" part- switched from full screen to widescreen at that point. Why I hear you scream, well it has to do with the story of the film and the main character, when he is transformed into a bear his vision changes, hence the wider ratio and more colourful image, it symbolises the characters change and that he is looking at the world and his life differently.

Transformation Song" (2:39) presents a song that Phil Collins wrote for the Great Spirits in this important scene. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) • Pinocchio (1940) • Fantasia (1940) • Dumbo (1941) • Bambi (1942) • Saludos Amigos (1942) • The Three Caballeros (1944) • Make Mine Music (1946) • Fun and Fancy Free (1947) • Melody Time (1948) • The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr.image is surrounded by black bars, then at approximately 24 minutes into the movie they image widens out to a full 2. Ultimately, the song was translated into Intuit and performed by the Bulgarian Women's Choir, who we see here, accompanied by the original English lyrics as subtitles, and interweaved with clips from the scene in the movie. The Sneak Peeks that play at the beginning of Disc 1 are for Aladdin, The Incredibles, Chicken Little (Disney's computer animated film coming to theaters in 2005), The Three Musketeers, Mary Poppins: Special Edition (the booklet provides us our first look at this set's cover art), Mulan II. This, nonetheless, allows a submenu to give the option to watch any portion of the documentary by itself, breaking it up into 12 short segments which each run a few minutes long (like last fall's disappointing bonus disc of The Lion King). As with the most potent Disney animation, Brother Bear fully emerges the viewer in story and characters.
