I keep my phone (S23) on the charging pad, also with no issue and it does maintain/increase the charge. I use mine without a SIM card, but instead hot spot it to my phone when I need Data for streaming services or app upgrades. To use Google maps/spotify/WhatsApp you then need your phones mobile data switched on and therefore you need a data plans. easy to play music, get navigation, or listen to music,it also support Voice Control, Siri,Google Assistant etc. I have yet to resolve why I sometimes get a failed to download contacts message yet my contacts are all there.
