I don't even need a pack I guess, just a few extra types would be a good start for SMD and big chip stuff. Fine tip and slim heater ensure your sophisticated soldering for precise components on high density PWB under microscope.

This Hakko FX-951 was my first soldering iron with regulated temperature control, now that I’ve experienced it, no going back to an uncontrolled iron. Please complete the purchase (or remove the quote – don't worry it's still available in My Account) before adding these additional items. Other than the spatula tip and TWO lengths of bent conical, T18 has slighty better, slightly more comprehensive variety of tips for general SMD soldering, IMO). This makes the soldering station ideal for places to which unauthorized persons may also have access.Adjustable temperature control with Temperature range 50°C to 480°C (120°F to 899°F), Digital display shows °F or °C, Maintains idle temperature within 1. A nice feature is the solder pencil goes into sleep mode when placed into the solder stand, this helps extend tip life. FX-888 is a high quality soldering station, don't get me wrong but compared to Weller, Metcal and FX-951, overall it is dissapointing for me.

Edit: I did such extensive testing partly cuz of STJ saying multiple times T12 clone >> 888 for 2 months straight. It would suit you perfectly if you just came from the Hakko 936 which was a great station in itself. A solder station it's not an Android tablet with fancy software, it's a tool to solder at any adjust. For holding small components, purchased the Wiha 44501 Stainless Steel Fine Point Professional ESD Precision Tech Tweezer with Static Dissipative Grip and Hypo Allergenic, 130mm Overall Length. The powerful thermal recovery allows soldering at lower temperature settings, while the tips available offer the user a vast array of options.Let them help you identify product alternatives, source additional technical data and find answers to your technical questions. Well, compared to Weller micro pencil, I'm sure this is a major improvement in thermal performance, esp with some of the tips I gave. I had the opportunity to do a lot of production soldering of the same exact things I do with the 888, over a fairly long time period of 2 full months. KL27x, I don't know who SJT is or which T12 station you've tested, or even if the performance varies that much between them, but mine is so much better than the FX-888, it's unbelievable.
