She considers who she is at her most essential, looking back to childhood but also realizing that she can help shape a positive future. Carving Canyons is as deeply felt as Lissie’s music has ever been, with sumptuous production and indelible melodies that will surely stand the test of time. They need to bring something new without alienating the fans that have been with them from the beginning. These issues include: excessively warped vinyl, significantly scratched or scuffed records, excessive noise and pops during playback, and locked grooves. With those experiences in mind and continued self-reflection, Lissie can pursue a way forward over the album’s final three songs.

We carry a broad range of CDs and vinyl (7”/12” singles and LPs) and specialise in indie, alternative, rock, punk, metal plus a few other genres. Your support is important because it helps us cover our costs so that we can continue bringing you the independent music journalism you know and trust. And we ended up writing over FaceTime, because it was during COVID, and it was right before Thanksgiving, and everyone was getting COVID. I moved back to the Midwest in 2015, and I have 45 acres, and mostly it’s just me and my dog and a garden. And then I think, even just the last two years, being such a break, that even without touring I’m getting busy.

Two years later we made the move to our present address, 35 The Headrow, where we have remained ever since.

Just going for walks, moving your body, and taking breaths and eating nourishing foods, all of those things that I think aid you in the process of getting to the other side. You just need to feel your feelings and know that, eventually, you’ll process them, and you’ll get to the other side.The album’s sentiments are a reminder of the power of healthily embracing our most challenging emotions. The song reflects on her painful relationship with alcohol, where she used to seek refugee during difficult times: it took her a lot to work on it and realize that drinking wasn’t an escape nor a solution and she is now finally ready to share with the world her acquired wisdom. And that ended up becoming extra-healing, because sometimes when you go through hard stuff, you feel like, ‘Oh, I’m so alone in this. All the songs on this album were written by Lissie, but it has been endowed with a strong collective co-writing effort which included Madi Diaz, Morgan Nagler, and Natalie Hemby.
