In the drydown, tonka bean, pink pepper, and tobacco (the unburned leaf -- I don't really get smoke). Then, i got a sample of it in one of those Sephora perfume sets and decided to give it a try again since it was so raved about and the notes made me want to make it work. Can be a tad bit strong at first spray, but I recommend walking into the scent, which unlocks a wonderfully woody and alcoholic smell without the overwhelming tobacco scent. i bought the sample pack of the Maison Margiela line replica and I'm slowly chewing through reviewing them all.
The vanilla and rum will be the strongest on the dry down with the pepper still lingering even after the opening. It perfectly conjures up an impression of a dimly lit subterranean jazz bar full of Brooklynites sipping heady cocktails and smoking cigars.I love wearing this when I'm dressed in my vintage style clothes (think 1940s sweater vest, blazer and trousers). On my skin i only get nondescript artificial fruit spun into cotton candy mixed with an extremely ashy tobacco. It's a really sexy woody scent, and the vanilla and rum notes come through even in the drydown which I love. It still smells great, if anything it has probably macerated somewhat and thus, the lasting power improved. If I waft my arm around, to try and get a whiff, I get only a very slight rum note, which I'm not sure I like because I would've liked to be able to smell a bit more pepper and sage. When I started my fragrance journey I stumbled upon Jazz club and really liked it, but for some reason it got out of my mind and I didn't get myself a full bottle back then.I wanted to love it - the tobacco notes are beautiful, however it is cloyingly sweet to me after a while. All fragrances are 100% original but will not be supplied in any retail/branded packaging and no trademarks or logos will be used.
