Stating a case can obviously draw very strongly on the skills of telling a well-constructed narrative. And finally drive is the energy and passion to make things happen – especially in the face of adversity. I find it especially true that most books or people, when advising about transition into leadership - will always tell you to plan big, establish vision etc. This is not intended to be a full statement of all your rights under the Distance Selling Regulations. So as general counsel, there really is an important role you can play in trying to help the bottom line of the enterprise.

That map and compass comes in the form of Herminia Ibarra's wonderful new book, Act Like A Leader, Think Like A Leader.

Her genuine and practical voice deeply connects with readers, particularly with her insights on navigating changes and moving beyond one's comfort zone. Yet, Ibarra contrasts these two ways of looking at leadership effectively through analogy of hub roles vs.

A case in point is the reference to Broadway musicals and West Side Story, where she gets virtually every significant fact wrong within two or three paragraphs on the subject. Herminia Ibarra — an expert on leadership and career development and a renowned professor at the London Business School — shows how managers and executives at all levels can step up to leadership by making small but crucial changes in their jobs, their networks, and themselves. Leaders envision change and need to bridge diverse groups to solicit/engage people to make the changes.Recommended for those who want to understand the fundamental illusion - and delusion - of leadership.

Herminia Ibarra—an expert on professional leadership and development and a renowned professor at INSEAD, a leading international business school—shows how managers and executives at all levels can step up to leadership by making small but crucial changes in their jobs, their networks, and themselves. Modern business requires us to lead differently, yet conventional approaches to gaining new leadership skills have proven less than effective. There are several self-tests and presentations of different types of network relationships, enough for the reader to conduct "a network audit" to realize the structure and quality of one's business and other professional networks.

One book in particular that caught my attention was Act Like a Leader, Think Like a Leader by Herminia Ibarra. Interestingly one of the fundamental skills that Ibarra links to good leadership is the ability to tell stories – but not in the sense of covering ones back! Applicability of cancellation rights: Legal rights of cancellation under the Distance Selling Regulations available for UK or EU consumers do not apply to certain products and services. We mainly use Royal Mail Tracked 48 Service for goods which weight less then 2kg, all other goods will be delivered by a Courier. I suppose for this book, it was the categorization of the different types of networks that I thought was interesting, if not necessarily destined to help me up my leadership game.
