The film makes an immediately striking upgrade over its previous, distinctly flawed Blu-ray release, which was extremely soft and riddled with DNR, and also suffered from some very variable grain levels. The Atmos height channels are mostly noticed during the moments when Patrick puts on his headphones and the soundtrack we are listening to is in our head. It was a big movie of the winter season courting any amount of controversy a movie based on a Bret Easton Ellis novel could for its extreme amount of violent content and treatment of women. just a little blood letting, this isn't a "splashy" looking steelbook cover, though it's rather inventively designed. Though I don't think it is a great movie, Harron's version of 'American Psycho' is definitely superior to the novel.

It may not have seemed like it back then, but there’s no denying those are truly some big names in nowadays standards. The new UHD's menu makes it look like they've dropped all previous audio options and gives us just a single, new 7. Several years before his Batman trilogy, Christian Bale brought the enigmatic psycho, Patrick Bateman, to life in a superior adaptation of American Psycho.

There’s also a war inside and that’s usually suppressed here by a bright, poppy and fulfilling soundtrack in Bateman’s ears. It comes at you as this eerie disembodied voice from God and it's really effective without smashing out other sound elements. a clearer understanding of how to attain an "accurate" accounting of the original theatrical experience.Selfish, arrogant, self-obsessed with delusions of grandeur; yet they rarely genuinely contribute to society and are all essentially copies of each other, some much so that mistaken identity is a key theme of the film. When they're done running up huge tabs at the trendiest restaurants, they're doing lines at the hippest nightclubs in New York.

And it probably is that to a degree, and just showing off that they got Dafoe; but now I can appreciate more that he just works as an extension of Bateman's inner monologue. the frame, also provide excellent fine detail in facial features like pores (as does the final zoom into Patrick's eyes). This piece is a bit pretentious, and being only marginally familiar with the scene, I didn't recognize half of the names or faces here. Even the older, French DVD has it' though it's less noticeable since it's already slightly window-boxed.Color Reproduction: I know there’s a lot of darkness here, but the film print here is warm, natural and beautiful looking throughout. American Psycho,' despite the claims of its author, is not about a character borne of a dispassionate and dehumanized culture. He dines daily with his friends Bryce (Justin Theroux), McDermott (Josh Lucas), and Luis (Matt Ross). However, Patrick harbours a darker side and at night indulges in a confused orgy of drugs, pornography, prostitution and murderous fantasies.

Unfortunately, these are the only interview clips they kept, and since From Book To Screen didn't bring them back for seconds, it means we don't hear from most of the cast, who were on the older discs. The disc presents a native 3840 x 2160p resolution image in the film's original theatrical aspect ratio of widescreen 2. Like it or not reflecting back on this black comedy thriller one cannot refute the overwhelming star power it contains. Though the image does clean up as the film progresses, there are still moments that are noticeably more ragged, with excessive grain and even dirt.It has a lot of interested information about the film, mostly during the pr-production process, like Leonardo DiCaprio being determined to star as Bateman, against Hannon's wishes. Given the text it was spawned from, I have to fully tip my hat to Mary Harron for even having the gumption to try and tackle an adaptation of the book, let alone make a successful film. My lone criticism of the film stems from its need to try and stick closely to the events of the novel while also finding a sense of finality to the whole business. My thoughts on the original 4K UHD of the film can be found in my American Psycho 4K Blu-ray review. I do want tp point out that the 4K UHD Disc comes armed with a brand spanking new Dolby Atmos surround track while the 1080p Blu-ray houses the original DTS-HD High Resolution one.
