This is not my problem with the book, though it sometimes read like the internal argument one has with their imaginary enemy. I think art should be uncomfortable and intense and slimy and weird, and this took that idea and RAN with it. I was not able to connect with main character, Sasha, because she spends majority of this book obsessing about what is cool and what is not, what she should do and think as a femme lesbian and how she should present herself to others.

Davis’s new novel reads like a taxonomy of queer theory, references, and history, while offering up wholly new words and takes on contemporary lesbian life.
