Perfect as an introduction to gastronomy, Blumenthal's quirky and readable book will delight fans and create new ones. We can talk about taste receptors and the like but, in the end, there’s nothing objective about food and flavour.

As we have promised you in our Lemon Tart Recipe, here is the review of one of our favorite cookbooks - Heston Blumenthal at Home. Internationally famous for his award-winning, 3-Michelin-starred restaurant, The Fat Duck, Heston Blumenthal is considered to be one of the best chefs of his generation. Recipes from his famed restaurants, Dinner by Heston Blumenthal, located at Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London and The Fat Duck in Berkshire, England are both featured. At the age of 16, Heston travelled to France with his family for the first time and became fascinated with the world of food.

It's "accessible" but there are several ingredients I'd like to know more about and some guidance of where to find them - what is inulin powder?

His restaurant The Fat Duck, in Bray, Berkshire, was awarded three Michelin stars in near-record time and has twice been voted the Best Restaurant in the World by an international panel of 500 culinary experts.

Recipes like Banana and Bacon Cookies or the Bacon and Egg Ice-Cream will make you question yourself what is actually possible to achieve with the ingredients that you are used to using every day. With the original molecular gastronomist, nothing is ever straightforward, and his latest cookbook is no exception. I’m an experienced cook and I like to be adventurous with recipes, but I’m not a chef and I don’t aspire to be. Each of the 70 recipes in this book is preceded by a discussion of Blumenthal’s impulse behind making the dish, many of them framed by his introduction in which he asserts that reading and cooking are both quantum experiences, determined by perspective and emphasis. A delicate hemp milk panna cotta with rhubarb compote, meanwhile, will make a sweet finish for any meal.

but into the past - a sort of comfort mission (if you will) to re-discover your relationship with food.It is amazing gorgeous illustrations and an explanation of both the unusual techniques and why they have been chosen. So, if you want to find out what quantum gastronomy is, then Is This a Cookbook is the book for you.
