The popular retailer teamed up with award-winning children’s author and illustrator Lauren Child CBE to bring a beloved children's book character to life. The magical scenes follow Clarice Bean as she desperately tries to save her family's Christmas and stop the festive spirit from completely floating away. Art has been around for thousands of years, but we keep ignoring it as if it’s just something that’s very nice.” An illustration from Clarice Bean: Think Like an Elf by Lauren Child. The writing does such a good job of letting us see things from Clarice Bean's perspective, and it really captures her childish voice. The story of Think Like an Elf is told over the eight windows of the Northumberland Street store frontage where it introduces viewers to Clarice’s home, her family, and her friends. This is such a cute book! Clarice Bean is such a funny little kid. She has her own perspective on things and I love all her little quirks.

Clarice Bean is worried that her family is losing their Christmas spirit. Her grandmother tells her to think like an elf, and find ways to help the people around her. She finds little things to do to serve others, and discovers that the Christmas spirit is not in the gifts you receive, but in showing others you care. She thinks attitudes towards creative work for children, including books, illustration, art and music, need to change.Christmas cannot be Christmas without the Christmas spirit, so it is important to keep an eye and not let it float away.” Clarice Bean fans rejoice: the star of highly illustrated chapter books (and of picture books) brings her trademark exuberant stream-of-consciousness narration (with occasional sly authorial snark) to Christmas. . . An enjoyable chapter book full of wit and good cheer.

The story is full of holiday cheer, and I loved hearing about all the family traditions that Clarice Bean celebrated with her family. It got me into the holiday spirit! There are many funny scenes where things go terribly wrong and it is hilarious! They get a huge tree that is way too big for their house. The turkey is accidentally dropped on the floor and then eaten by a mysterious dog or fox. Clarice Bean tries to make fudge, but it is a hazardous undertaking. This whole book is so funny! The windows follow the story of Clarice Bean as she desperately tries to save her family’s Christmas and stop the festive spirit from completely floating away. Both " Clarice Bean,That's Me" and "What Planet Are You From, Clarice Bean?" were bronze medal winners of the Smarties Prize, in the 6–8 years category, in 1999, and in 2001, respectively. The latter won the Kids Club category. An important plot device is the Ruby Redfort collection, a series of fictional books in which Clarice Bean and Betty Moody frequently find inspiration. They are about a young, American girl, who is an undercover secret agent. In Clarice Bean Spells Trouble, Clarice and Betty also watch the Ruby Redfort television series, which was adapted from the books. In Utterly Me, Clarice Bean, it is revealed that Hollywood are adapting it into a film. There are nine books in the Ruby Redfort series:Join the one and only Clarice Bean and ‘Think Like an Elf’ in this irresistible and spectacularly sparkling Christmas story from the inimitable Lauren Child.
