About this deal

There's still a lot of support for avoiding parabens following the better safe than sorry route. If you do we completely support you! The Silicone-free label only includes the most common Silicone ingredients that have indentified been reported by individuals that could potentially cause issues. I would top off the toner with this emulsion, and the ingredients in the emulsion are virtually the same. Much like the toner it does enrich my skin with an extra boost of moisture that my skin loves. My skin felt soft and supple after letting it soak in the emulsion for about 30 seconds. I did notice, however, that the snail mucin was not the an active ingredient but rather the birch sap and sodium hyaluronate. Nothing to complain about since it did its job by moisturizing and still has the other ingredients, just in lower concentrations. Out of the whole line, I would say this is one item that I could probably live without but I wouldn’t say it’s terrible at the least! Abdulghani, Ahsan A., et al. “Studies of the Effects of Topical Vitamin C, a Copper Binding Cream, and Melatonin Cream as Compared With…” ResearchGate, Elsevier, Mar. 1998, www.researchgate.net/publication/246049763_Studies_of_the_effects_of_topical_vitamin_C_a_copper_binding_cream_and_melatonin_cream_as_compared_with_tretinoin_on_the_ultrastructure_of_normal_skin.

From the same parent company, but this one focuses more on anti-aging. The ingredients do have some overlap, and they’re both hydrating, but you don’t get the snail mucin here. For my needs I personally prefer The Skin House. Not sure if it did much, but my skin definitely felt softer, and looked smoother to the eye. Very perfume-y and I’ve been using it for a few weeks now and I still cannot get used to it. Renin, YesStyle review These include: Amodimethicone, Behenoxy Dimethicone, Bis-Aminopropyl Dimethicone, Cetearyl Methicone, Cetyl Dimethicone, Cyclomethicone, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Dimethicone Copolyol, Dimethiconol, Methicone, Phenyl Trimethicone, Phenyl Trimethicone, Stearoxy Dimethicone, Stearyl Dimethicone, Trimethylsilylamodimethicone.

Regarding anti-aging, a 2013 study in the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology examined the effect of SS onphotoaged skin. The 14-week, double-blind,25 participant study found that "there was a significant degree of improvement in fines lines", though the participants did not report a significant difference in the quality of their skin. This serum is exactly what I expected it to be: gentle and hydrating. If you’re looking for that juicy plump result instantly, this isn’t it. But throughout the past month it still kept my skin balanced in the dry cold air. Because it absorbs so well into my skin, it’s almost as if I never applied this extra layer, but my skin definitely notices a difference when I skip this.

Anyone who wants to try a snail-based serum but with a little more oomph (ie. copper peptide) and without the stringy texture.A 2007 study examined the molecular basis for the great regeneration properties of the ingredient. It found that snail slime (SS) indeed does a bunch of positive things that could be the reason for its great repair abilities. First, it has serious antioxidant properties thanks to two great antioxidant enzymes, superoxide dismutase and glutathione s-transferase. Second, SS induces fibroblast proliferation, that's particularly important during wound healing. Third SS was also found to downregulate MMP, an evil enzyme that's out there to destroy skin-firming collagen. These properties add up to give SS not only wound healing and regenerative properties but also serious anti-aging potential. A few studies have been done on the overall effect of snail mucin and found that it helped improved the appearance of fine lines after 8 weeks of use. 3 They also noticed skin repairing properties when it was applied after a cosmeticprocedure. 4 This has been one of my go-to serums whenever my skin is irritated, it’s so reparative and hydrating (and stringy)! The big bottle means that I can use it on the body too, and is excellent for sun burns (not me, the husband, since he’s lazy with sunscreen). On the other hand, you definitely don’t get any anti-aging benefits with the COSRX. Truchuelo, M. Teresa, and Maria Vitale. “A Cosmetic Treatment Based on the Secretion of Cryptomphalus Aspersa40% Improves the Clinical Results after the Use of Nonablative Fractional Laser in Skin Aging.” Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, vol. 19, no. 3, June 2019, pp. 622–28, https://doi.org/10.1111/jocd.13052. As a result, please note this is only an experimental label that can be best used to possible identify problematic products you have used in the past. It is in no way a perfect identifier nor a predictor in whether or not it will exacerbate or cause fungal acne. It will continue to be worked on as more information and research comes to light.

Other moisturizing ingredient: Betaine, aloe extract (also soothing), hydrolyzed collagen, glycerin, and arginine (also helps with wound healing) If you've ever used a skincare, makeup or beauty product that's made your skin look and feel smoother tempoarily - it's likely contained Silicone. They are a popular class of ingredients found in cosmetics due to their smooth, soft, easy-to-spread and smooth properties that help creates an artificial layer/barrier on top of skin or hair (commonly found in conditioners). For the same reasons they are popularly used, they are also commonly avoided. Anecdotally, many individuals have reported that Silicones cause/excerbate breakouts, irritation, cause a feeling of skin being unable to breathe, cause clumping of cosmetic products and find it difficult to wash off. As a result, those who find them problematic are avoiding them and increasingly, cosmetic companies are avoiding them as well. Are Snail Creams Good for Your Skin.” Thebeautybrains.com, 2014, thebeautybrains.com/2009/02/are-snail-creams-good-for-your-skin/. Parabens are a large group of preservatives which are used to prevent bacteria growing in cosmetic formulations.Copper Peptide is another ingredient that caught my eyes. In addition to wound healing properties, it also helps break down unhealthy collagen in scar tissues while encouraging normal collagen growth! An old study actually compared the collagen production effect of copper peptide, vitamin c, and retinol, and yep, copper peptide won! 5 It also helps increase elastin andglycosaminoglycans producttion, both of which are important for maintaining skin elasticity and hydration. 6 Despite the inclusion of fragrance my skin never felt irritated while using this. However I wouldn’t consider this a go-to soothing product either. Like if my skin was feeling irritated from over-exfoliating, this didn’t do little to help calm my skin down. But at the same time, I could still use this serum without making things worse. Additionally, products that may contain ingredients that have shown to feed Malassezia may not neccessarily exacerbate the condition due to concentration of ingredient used in the product, this information is simply not available on the products. At SkinCarisma, we've done our best to identify as many ingredients as possible but note the fungal-free label may not be 100% accurate due to the complexconditions and combination of ingredients that malezzeria can thrive on.

A viscous gel that feels water like as soon as you apply it to your skin. Absorbs almost instantly! Does not have that goopy stringy texture typically found in snail products. The EU Allergen Free label is for the 26 ingredients identified by the EU SCCS and products will be only flagged if a suspected ingredient is on it's ingredient list. It is possible for cosmetics to contain one of the suspect ingredients without it appearing on the ingredient list due to it not reaching the concentration threshold to disclose it and cosmetic manufacturers choice to not disclose it.
