About this deal

Taken from a group home at age twelve, Evan Smoak was raised and trained as part of the Orphan Program, an off-the-books operation designed to create deniable intelligence assets―i.e. assassins. Evan was Orphan X. He broke with the Program, using everything he learned to disappear and reinvent himself as the Nowhere Man, a man who helps the truly desperate when no one else can. But now Evan’s past in the Orphan Program is reaching out to him. What a fantastic ride, what a ride. This series is just so damn good. Great character, great stories, great action. Can you tell I really love it :) He set his hands on the bars of the eight-foot-high gates. The trees of the South Lawn formed a funnel leading to the White House, which would have been a fine metaphor for Evan’s own narrowed focus if he were the type to bother with metaphors. high energy ( was going to say octane but who says that ) film and was tense, exhilarating and so fast moving I felt I had been to the gym after a few chapters, intense doesn’t do it justice

As the story opens Orphan X is refitting and upgrading his fortress penthouse after an explosion destroyed it. Evan is interrupted in the midst of this task by a phone call from Aragón Urrea, a drug lord in Eden, Texas, whose residents view him as a hero for helping the Eden community. Meanwhile in what has become a formula for the Orphan X series, while Evan is battling his demons he continues to be a beacon for people with no one else to turn to but in more trouble than they can handle. Orphan X—the man, the legend, and the only one to right the world’s wrongs when no one else can. . . I adore these books. And Dark Horse may be the best one yet. I think I've said that about books 2 through 6 so I keep repeating myself, but this one was a great read. How does Gregg Hurwitz do it? The plotting is clever, the action is nearly constant and usually over-the-top, and X has something resembling a moral core. Bad guys get what bad guys deserve... Hurwitz fans will certainly enjoy this latest entry in the series." - Kirkus

Taken from a group home at age twelve, Evan Smoak was raised and trained as part of the Orphan Program, an off-the-books operation designed to create deniable intelligence assets—i.e. assassins. Evan was Orphan X. He broke with the Program, using everything he learned to disappear and reinvent himself as the Nowhere Man, a man who helps the truly desperate when no one else can. But now Evan's past is catching up to him. The two meet and there clearly is some friction yet Aragon has made his money. Billions is alluded to and further he knows what's right and what's wrong. The relationship between the two is pretty cool and believable. X will help him but he has to stop his drug dealing. I am a huge fan of Gregg Hurwitz and his Evan Smoak novels. In his new release “Out of The Dark”, Hurwitz delivers. Evan Smoak is one of my favorite characters. He is adorable and his inner thoughts are hysterical. After being pursued by government operatives for years, Evan made a deal with President Victoria Donahue-Carr, who agreed to pardon Evan if he gave up being the Nowhere Man.

How does Gregg Hurwitz do that?). There's supposed to be one more Orphan X book and I can't wait for it! Just awesome, once again, Hurwitz leaves me hanging with an ending similar to the last time. Gaaah!! Evan Smoak was taken from a group home at age twelve and raised and trained as part of the Orphan Program, an off-the-books operation designed to create deniable intelligence assets: assassins. Evan was Orphan X. But he broke with the Program, using everything he learned to disappear and reinvent himself as the Nowhere Man, someone who could help the truly desperate when all hope was lost. But now Evan’s past is catching up to him—and there’s no one left to rescue but himself. On this mission, he’s up against a formidable opponent: Special Agent in Charge, Naomi Templeton has the Secret Service in her genes and has recently been promoted to Deputy Director of Protective Intelligence and Assessment. And as the daughter of a former Director, she has something to prove. But Hank Templeton, now languishing in an Aged Care Facility, could also be a distraction. What Evan Smoak isn’t initially aware of is the dangerous man who has been tasked with killing him. There's a lot going on in Out of the Dark, the fourth installment of Hurwitz's Orphan X series, and it's definitely one of the best. In addition to Evan's plan to assassinate the President, which requires more intelligence, firepower, and sheer chutzpah than even he may have, as the Nowhere Man, he also has to help someone out of a desperate, dangerous situation. At the same time, he also must confront the reality that who he is, what he has done, and what he is trained to do are not the ingredients for a "normal" life, no matter how desperate he may crave some normalcy. Here, Evan Smoak helps find the daughter of Aragon Urrea, a drug kingpin, after she is kidnapped. Mr. Urrea is not a good man and yet, his daughter is not responsible for his actions, calling into question ethics and morality, which is something Evan must explore.
