About this deal

Newer tapes adhere better and do far more than just seal housewrap. But despite advancements in tape technology, you can still use tape incorrectly or use the wrong tape for the job. My work as a high-performance builder and energy consultant in one of the country’s coldest areas requires that I use the right tape the right way. I’ve even done my own research to ensure my clients’ homes perform the way they should. Tape anatomy Without sheathing tape, all of those gaps between the exterior OSB panels destroy the integrity and efficiency of the building envelope, in some cases eliminating the envelope all together. Why Choose LP WeatherLogic ® Seam & Flashing Tape The most popular tapes—and usually the most expensive—are acrylic. These tapes can be very elastic; one example is Zip System Stretch Tape. Many can be applied in lower temperatures, and they bond well with most surfaces. In some instances, it may take a few hours or even a few days for the adhesive to fully cure to the taped surface.

I use a couple of different methods to apply tape from a roll. If there is no release liner, I unroll short lengths of the tape, smoothing with my hand as I move along. When I get to the end of the taped section, I cut the tape and then roll the newly taped section with a J-roller. RCM Joint Seal is made up of two products; DAFA UV tape, which is a single-sided tape made from polyethylene and RCM Joint Seal liquid, which is a temporary protective coating designed to protect non-porous surfaces from damage caused by abrasion, staining, spillage, weathering and scratching. So, let’s have a look at these materials and what you need to take into account when working with them. Every product is different; hence you will have to take the time for each product and determine the application. The above-mentioned list should be a great help otherwise do some research to find the The LP WeatherLogic Air & Water Barrier System replaces both standard wall and roof panel installation as well as conventional wrapping methods.Butyl is another common material for construction tape. These tapes tend to be slightly cheaper than the acrylics. Butyls are UV- and thermally stable. They can be applied in lower temperatures, but in my experience, the acrylics outperform most other types of tape in cold weather. Tyvek’s StraightFlash, used in window and door flashing, is a butyl tape. Unparalleled Strength Meets Ultimate Convenience Tyvek Sheathing Tape, PSA068B, is a solid cold-weather polypropylene sheathing / construction seaming tape. Its ultra-strong acrylic adhesive makes it ideal for house wrap or jointing Tyvek sheeting, seaming most major house wraps, and plastic sheeting.

An AAMA 711-13 approved acrylic tape, the LP WeatherLogic Seam & Flashing Tape features one of today’s highest quality adhesives. It withstands temperature cycling and delivers consistent long-term protection. Quality construction tape has two layers of acrylic, butyl, or rubberized asphalt adhesive. Tape must be rolled for the best bond. 3. Reinforcing layer Remember, your construction envelope is not complete without sheathing tape, which completely seals all gaps where panels meet. The result is a home that lets interior moisture escape without letting elements such as cold or hot air or wind-blown rain inside to damage building integrity or reduce energy efficiency as well as the comfort of your homeowners. That’s not enough for today’s professional homebuilder, who knows the importance of creating a high-performance building envelope. It’s All About the Building Envelope

Make sure that any seam or flashing tape is pushed tight into corners, because any radius in the tape complicates trim and siding so much that inevitably someone cuts the tape with a utility knife, allowing air and water into the corner. I like to tape corners using a tape that has a split liner. I cut the tape to the needed length, remove the liner from one side, then apply the tape from the top of the corner, working my way down, peeling and applying short sections at a time. Once one side is completely adhered, I repeat the process on the other side. Lap shingle-style When the outside of the sheathing is the WRB layer, as with some installations of rigid insulation and Zip System, these WRB components are not lapped shingle-style. Instead, the panels are butted together and the seams are taped. In these assemblies, the tape is a critical water-shedding component, so it must be installed flat and without “fish mouths”(gaps) or wrinkles that could funnel water into an assembly. They don’t have to be big to be a big problem. Cut out open fish mouths and install a new section of tape. It’s cheap insurance. Pay attention at corners Photo: Colin Russell Product certificates are issued based on test results, calculations and other specific verification This begs the question: what’s the role of sheathing tape in the building envelope and why is it important? Why You Should Use Sheathing Tape

Note: The following technical information and data should only be considered representative or typical and should not be used for specification purposes. Wax paper is very cheap and so easy to use. You can use it to cover a live edge or natural edge table or to make a simple mold for small tables.Polyethylene is the most expensive option. This is a method that wants to be mastered and requires time to learn and understand. You will need to know the density and required size and take the time to gather everything you need. is a permanent, high performance pressure sensitive tape solution for the seaming and sealing of joints in house wraps, sheathing materials, vapour barriers & foam insulation. It also provides instant repairs to ripped and torn construction films and membranes. It’s aggressive, UV-resistant solvent acrylic based pressure-sensitive adhesive is partnered with the flexibility and conformability of UV stabilized polypropylene film. This provides superior sealing and protective benefits, whilst offering ease of handling that are the characteristics of a high performance tape. 1640CW has exceptional temperature resistance, performing at sub-zero as low as -40ºC, through to 100ºC. Beyond sealing sheathing panels, it can also wrap window and door framing, roof flashing and window frame sills. Easy to Install
