Description

For Long Island native and filmmaker Christopher P. Garetano, finding the truth behind it (or beneath, we should say) has been a lifelong obsession. It began when he was a child. While walking up the beach at Montauk, a military guard appeared from nowhere to turn him away. Nichols alongside Al Bielek are the primary proponents of the Montauk Project. Outside of this, it's hard to find any information about him The facility was expanded to as many as twelve levels and several hundred workers, without anyone in the town noticing the tons of building materials or hundreds of workers required. Some reports have the facility extending under the town of Montauk itself. Both Peter Moon and Preston Nichols have encouraged speculation about the contents; for example, they wrote, "Whether you read this as science fiction or non-fiction you are in for an amazing story" in their first chapter, [ citation needed] describing much of the content as "soft facts" in a Guide For Readers and publishing a newsletter with updates to the story. The Montauk Project". Disinfo.com. Archived from the original on December 14, 2013 . Retrieved May 16, 2013. The most notable and obvious difference between Stranger Things and its original incarnation is the setting. The Duffer Brothers originally wanted the show to take place in Montauk, Long Island (and for the show to correspondingly be titled Montauk) because they desired to recapture the "coastal-town Amity feel" in Jaws. [7] The setting was changed to the fictional Indiana town of Hawkins due to production reasons, filming in Atlanta. The Duffers would warm to this decision, as Atlanta felt more like "Anywhere, USA" and reminded them of their childhoods in North Carolina. Ross Duffer said they were also "excited" by the change for another reason; since Hawkins is "this little fictional world that we've made up, we can do stuff that didn't happen in real life". [7] Story elements [ ] At one point, however, Nichols' superiors told him to turn on the Montauk Chair and leave it running... through August 12th, 1983. As the story goes, by having another time-travel machine switched on, the Montauk Project successfully created a time wormhole to 1943, with power at both ends. That's how Ed and the Duncan Cameron of 1943 came through the portal, and that events described by Al Bielek occurred.

Al Bielek

Nichols narrated the level of psychological breakdown to which many of these boys were subjected. After experiments were concluded, many of them found it difficult to recollect the incidents at Camp Hero. As you’d expect, the US military has vehemently denied any association with the Montauk Project. Many believe these denials are only a tactic to distract public attention from the real events at Camp Hero. Wikimedia Commons Some believe that the U.S. Navy’s alleged research into radar invisibility in 1943 not only made the USS Eldridge vanish completely, but actually transported it to Norfolk, Virginia. all sorts of stories, and Preston would come out covered in sweat. And every week there was a new story,

The pitch booklet introduces Montauk as an eight-hour sci-fi horror epic taking place in Long Island, 1980. The show is described as a “love letter to the golden age of Steven Spielberg and Stephen King”; a basic outline of the show's original plot is provided, along with short character descriptions. Though The Montauk Experiment was never filmed, it evolved into the Montauk TV series concept, which in turn became Stranger Things. [3] Pilot script [ ] Cameron used the Montauk chair to manifest a scary beast that led to the facility’s destruction and the project’s swift end. It wasn’t until this beast had destroyed Montauk’s equipment that the unleashed beast vanished. This story was incorporated into the plot of Stranger Things. Allegedly conducted on the east end of Long Island during the Cold War, Project Montauk was a secret military experiment to develop psychological warfare with abducted children.

THE 'MONTAUK PROJECT'

Much like its successor, Montauk was to have a three act structure like a film, having a beginning, middle, and end. However, unlike Stranger Things, Montauk, was envisioned as a miniseries. While the series would conclude with no loose ends, plans for a potential sequel would include the same characters in the '90s. The sequel's timejump was directly inspired by Stephen King's It. The reason this concept was abandoned was because Netflix felt people would become so invested in the characters that they would want to see the continuation of their stories. The Duffers came to agree with this decision, and instead planned a multiple season arc. [6] Setting [ ] What’s even more horrifying is that these experiments were reportedly a way to develop mind control abilities in children. A New York Post segment on Stranger Things and its connection to the alleged events of the Montauk Project. The aim was to fracture your mind so they could program you… they would change the temperature from very hot to very cold, starve you then over-feed you. I remember being beaten with a wooden pole.
