I just never really got to the project- didn’t have a bat template ready to go, was too tired, too much work, ran out of time, etc… I can go on and on with my excuse list, lol. (How perfect are these paper bats for Decorating for a Halloween Party?) Which Cutting Machine is Best? This craft has a lot of cutting required. This is such a great way for younger children to practice hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills, even if they are not 100% on cutting yet. Moveable Bat Wings: Use split pins to construct the bat instead of glue to make the bat’s wings moveable. Did you know there are over 1,400 different species of bats? I probably haven’t mentioned it, but last year, I did a bunch of research on the best cutting machine, (by research, I asked a bunch of bloggers in one of my Facebook groups which brand of machine they liked more, the Silhouette or Cricut.) Because of their varied species, bats come in many different sizes. To demonstrate, the smallest bat is the Kitti’s hog-nosed bat aka the bumblebee bat, which weighs about the same as a penny. Meanwhile, the largest bat species is called the flying fox (fruit bat), and they have a wingspan of 6 feet! Bat Outline #2:

Teaching about the latest events?

When it comes to Halloween decor, I like it fun + cute, rather than spooky + creepy. And living in Austin, TX (which is home to millions of bats under the Congress Bridge) we’ve gone bat crazy! We love hanging our 88 bats up each year. Resist art (or silhouette art) has to be one of my favorite techniques and it’s absolutely perfect for making some Halloween art.
