I devoured this wonderful, torturous book. And now I don't know what to do with myself aside from sit here and try and form some semblance of a review.

For most of my life, I've romanticized death. I used to love the idea of something being so tremendous that it was worth dying for. But I was wrong. I think the most magnificent things are worth living for' Holm, Katrina Niidas (June 30, 2020). "Spring 2017 Flying Starts: Stephanie Garber". Publishers Weekly . Retrieved January 18, 2020. Scarlett is, well... Scarlett. I didn't like her in Caraval and I didn't love her now. She was a more likable, less annoying character here than in Caraval so there is that. She still made some questionable choices though, but that's to be expected. I’ll start with what I did not like. In “ Legendary” and “ Caraval” there was a fairy tale magic that takes you to a whole new world of magic. There were suspenseful moments and everything in the plot was a mystery. “Who is the legend?” was the question we were all asking ourselves and desperate to solve. In “Finale”, I missed that mystery. The author tries to replace it with other dark mysteries from Scarlett and Donatella’s past, but they seemed a little worn and not as exciting. Not that there was not magic in the book, there was, and plenty of it, but it did not leave the impression on me that the first two parts did. Legendary and the Prince of Hearts – Finale Also, I'm gonna call it and say that there's probably going to be a spinoff series or something. Garber definitely left enough space to expand this world, especially with that scene at the market. If you've read it you'll know what I'm talking about. Also, I'd be totally down for a new story about The Fates. He smelled like dirt and tears and perfection. And she decided then that she was never, ever letting go of him. She wished there was a way to tether her heart to his, so that even when they were apart they would still be attached. There were things in this world to be truly afraid of, but loving Julian was not one of them.” 💞 Sigh. My babies, they got me tearing up with their interactions. They are the main couple for sure, their love is so pure, Julian gave up on everything for her, and the scene where Scarlett had to try to take out his love broke me into million pieces. They deserved this happy ending. So yes, she wrote book to book, rather than getting to map out the whole trilogy from the start. It does certainly show. I think she did what she could, given the circumstances, but it definitely suffered there. The storyline itself is truly marvelous. The story of the Fates was pretty vague in the last book, but in this one the characters come face to face with them and a lot of information is revealed about the past, the present, and in the future. Paradise or Paloma, Scarlett and Tella’s mother, has been a very mysterious character in so far without even being present in the story much. Her history is revealed in this book and many new facts about the characters are revealed. Romance buffs will have the grand, sweep-y, star-crossed-lovers ending they're looking for, while fantasy fans will walk away feeling jilted by the storytelling. Both sisters, Tella and Scarlett, have their huge obstacles to love: kidnapping, temporary death, other possessive suitors, and the whole kingdom falling down around them, to name a few. Oh, and Legend, as an immortal, actually cannot love. That's a big one, repeated almost like a mantra to the reader. How can it ever work out between Tella and Legend? It's a nail-biter until the end. Live it up, romance fans.

I think love is another type of magic. “It makes everything brighter, it makes people who have it stronger, it breaks rules that aren’t supposed to exist, it is infinitely valuable.”

Need Help?

Let me start off by saying that I really enjoyed "Caraval". It was magical and intriguing, but it still left something to be desired. Then "Legendary" came and I thought that my prayers have been answered. The stakes were higher, the introduction of the Fates was really interesting and the ending left me hopeful for the next book. And here I am after finishing "Finale". Quite frankly, I'm disappointed. Nicolas has never hurt me, Scarlett said. Unlike Legend, he’s always been kind, and I’ve been waiting months to finally meet him. I cried and giggled so many times while reading about them. As one minute their romance was swoon-worthy and the next minute they are ready to die for each other 😭 but in the end I'm so happy they finally got their happy ending. I feel so sad the trilogy ended. Because I invested on the characters, mostly I enjoyed both of the love stories. As a heroine I loved Scarlett more. As a hero, Legend stole the show from Julian.
