EkoFuel Bioethanol is flammable and care should be taken when storing and using this fuel. A good rule of thumb for any flammable liquid is to store it in a cool dry place, out of direct sunlight. Storing ethanol outside. To stay at the forefront of sustainable energy innovation, EkoFuel invests significantly in research and development. We collaborate with leading scientists, engineers, and institutions to explore new technologies and improve energy efficiency. By supporting cutting-edge research, EkoFuel paves the way for ground breaking advancements in renewable energy.

The best place for information on which one you need is the manual that came with your appliance or burner. If you have searched online for “Bioethanol Fuel”, you will have likely come across a number of products. Some liquid, some in Gel form, some stating different ethanol contents or percentages and some scented or marked as “low odour”. Firstly let’s clear up the confusion between liquid and Gel. These are not the same thing and it is likely that your appliance or burner will be designed to only use one of these fuel types. So it is important that you buy the right one. Because the bioethanol fuel denaturing recipe differs in the UK and Europe and there is no bioethanol fuel EN standard to meet, bioethanol fireplace manufacturers are looking for simple, clear messaging that indicates that a bioethanol fuel meets an expected quality. One such message, is the % bioethanol in the fuel. Whether a bioethanol fuel is denatured to the UK denaturing protocol or the EU protocol, both fuel recipes start with ethanol. The % ethanol in the starting raw material can vary and it is this % ethanol that bioethanol fireplace manufacturers are referring to. By referring to the % bioethanol in the raw product, the fireplace manufacturer can then assume that the bioethanol fuel manufacturer denatures the product to the minimum required by either UK or EU law and that the denatured bioethanol fuel is not watered down subsequently.

PLANT BASED PRODUCT – Made from sugar beet molasses, our bio ethanol fuel is eco-friendly and 100% plant derived. The main products of combustion of the smokeless and odourless bioethanol fuel are CO2 and water. Eko fuel has a very low carbon footprint. When alcohol vaporises it can give off a strong alcohol smell. This is normally removed when the vapours are burnt. And so for the majority of the time your appliance is in use, the fuel will likely have very little, or no smell. If during the use of the appliance, you smell a burning or smoky smell, this indicates the fuel is likely not very clean or of the correct purity. It is this smell that the “no odour” and its variants refers to.

CLEAN BURNING – Ekofuel bio fuel has the highest bioethanol purity possible according to UK Excise notice 473. No other bio ethanol fuel in UK has a higher purity than Ekofuel giving an ash free, clean burn every time. Ekofuel bio fuel is made from double rectified 96.6% purity bioethanol, with added denaturants as required by UK law, resulting in an amazing purity biofuel and a clean burn. For more information on the differences between gel and liquid fuel you can see our article on that topic here: What is the difference between Liquid and Gel bio ethanol fuel? Denaturant percentage. EkoFuel is a registered trade name of Prima Industries Ltd www.primaind.co.uk, a UK-based company with a strong presence in the heating industry since 2006. Yes. Although through simple maths, it is easy to calculate that even if the starting point of any UK denatured bioethanol fuel is 100% bioethanol, after the addition of the HMRC required denaturing agents, 3% vol IPA and 3% vol MEK, the bioethanol content would be 94%. Stating this % bioethanol on the bottle would be unhelpful, since the bioethanol fuel mixture would contain no water and would therefore run hotter than intended. It is for this reason that it is the starting mixture % bioethanol that is quoted on the Ekofuel bottle, to which is added the minimum denaturants required by UK or EU law and no water is subsequently added. The resulting product, whether its is denatured to the UK or EU recipe performs similarly and is acceptable to bioethanol fireplace manufacturers.Recognising the role of policy frameworks in shaping the energy landscape, EkoFuel actively engages in advocating for favourable policies that support renewable energy adoption. We collaborate with policymakers, participate in relevant forums, and provide valuable insights to influence the development of legislation and regulations that promote sustainable energy practices. We can deliver up to 24 x 1 litres of bioethanol to Scottish Highlands and Islands, Isle of Man, Isle of Wight and Northern Ireland. Ekofuel is suitable for use in any indoor or outdoor ethanol fireplace designed to use liquid bioethanol fuel. It is double rectified for purity and produced under strict quality control procedures according to ISO 9001:2015. EkoFuel is clean burning, smokeless, ash-free, and emits very little odour. Our bioethanol fuel is produced from molasses, a waste by-product of growing sugar beet, making it an environmentally friendly fuel with a low carbon footprint. The CO2 released when burning bio ethanol was first absorbed when the crops used to make the bioethanol were grown, in contrast to non-renewable oil-based fuels that release CO2 absorbed millions of years ago. Many bioethanol fire manufacturers recommend using a fuel with a minimum content of 96% ethanol. Some also indicate an upper percentage limit as burning 100% ethanol could be too hot for the design of the burner and result in the appliance not behaving correctly. In this article, we will review some of the most common features of ethanol fuels to help clarify some of this confusion. Gel or Liquid?

Ekofuel is a trade name of Prima Industries Limited which has been trading continuously since 2006. Ekofuel was established as a brand in 2011. All their bioethanol fuels are methanol free and therefore safer than those containing methanol such as methylated spirits for their clients alcohol camping stoves and alcohol marine stores.EkoFuel does not produce a scented product and instead has focused on ensuring our product is a low odour and as clean burning as possible. Low-Odour, No Odour, Odourless, what’s the difference? An easy solution to this is to keep a bottle or two of EkoFuel Bioethanol inside the house at room temperature, ready to use when you need it. Storing ethanol inside. You’ll find Ekofuel in Unit 2, Chestenton Court, Eastwood Trading Estate, Rotherham, South Yorkshire, S65 1SJ.
