Hamish Bigmore didnt believe that Mr Majeika had arrived a magic carpet, he just thought it was a massive hallucination. Humphrey Carpenter (1946-2005), the author and creator of Mr Majeika, was born and educated in Oxford. He went to a school called the Dragon School where exciting things often happened and there were some very odd teachers - you could even call it magical! He worked for the BBC then became a full-time writer in 1975, and he was the author of many award-winning biographies, including books about J. R. R. Tolkien, C. S. Lewis, Benjamin Britten and Spike Milligan. I think Mr Majeika is going to give and do things that he isn’t allow to do at school. At this same time I think it will be a lots of fun for Class Three to have a such a teacher.After working for the BBC, Carpenter became a full-time writer in 1975, publishing several histories and a children’s adventure, Joshers: Or London to Birmingham with Albert and Victoria. His Mr Majeika stories were written when his daughters were young. Yes, Mr Majeika is caring teacher because he asked rest of the children on the table if they would like some hot chips as well and he magically gave it to them.
