Some recap of the storyline (contains spoilers): FL is treated as absolute dirt, and then is married off to a seemingly super cold elite ML. Some misunderstandings happen, then the nice old lady (close to ML since he was a child) communicates between two of them and solves the miscommunication. ML warms up to her as he sees her kindness and gradually learns about her past. FL very slowly grows confidence (yay character development!). That's a very sweet relationship. Then, SPOILERS... Her family falls to ruin. Take that, FL's crappy family! I hate FL's sister and I was satisfied to see the retribution. From the light novel, FL discovers she has the power everyone wants. Pineda, Rafael Antonio (August 14, 2023). "My Happy Marriage Anime Casts Yōko Hikasa as Hazuki Kudō". Anime News Network . Retrieved August 14, 2023. I read the first light novel volume a few months ago, and my biggest complaint was that the writing and story were very, very spare. There was none of the usual light novel bloat, but the author also didn't spend much time on things that could have used more attention. Kiyoka, Ookaito and Kazushi are given an audience with Prince Takaihito who reveals that the imperial capital will be invaded by the Grotesqueries. Soon after, Takaihito congratulates Kiyoka on his engagement with Miyo. Meanwhile, Miyo learns the Western etiquettes for the upcoming party. After her lesson with Hazuki, she ponders over the meaning of family. As Kiyoka worries over Miyo's nightmares, he sends Iwashimizu to gather information on the Usuba family. Later, Kiyoka meets the Ministry of the Imperial House's messenger Arata Tsuruki for the discussion about the investigation. That night, Kiyoka and his subordinates encounter the Grotesqueries and destroy them. The next morning, Miyo encounters Arata when she suddenly collapses during her training day.

Miyo and male lead relationship is feels natural too, the male lead at first only interested in here= because she is unusual, then he cares about her and finally love. Miyo is also same, male lead told us that at first Miyo doesn't really care who is it as long as they provide her home but after several chapters, it changes to be, "I wanted to be here."Since many people say female lead change ONLY because of the male lead and some men around her, I will say this. There are some people who give her confidence, it's mainly Yurie (woman) and male lead, and Kouji also support her in those dark years even if not much to improve her psychological state and condition, so it's not only male lead. Hana (woman), her maid also give her support in those dark years. Everyone who think it's only male lead or only men around her, PLEASE READ AGAIN PROPERLY). Yurie really contribute a lot in her growth, without Yurie, I don't think male lead will be able to give Miyo support because male lead know how to handle Miyo mainly because of Yurie's advice. In an alternative version of the Taishō era in which spirits and magic are real, but in decline, Miyo Saimori, born without supernatural talent, is forced into an existence of servitude by her abusive stepmother. When Miyo finally comes of marriageable age, though, her hopes of being whisked away to a better life crumble after she discovers her fiancé’s identity: Kiyoka Kudou, a commander apparently so cold and cruel that his previous would-be brides all fled within three days of their engagements. With no home to return to, Miyo resigns herself to her fate—and soon finds that her pale and handsome husband-to-be is anything but the monster she expected. As they slowly open their hearts to each other, both realize the other may be their chance at finding true love and happiness.

I'm VERY curious about where this story will go next, especially in regards to the paranormal aspect! I feel it's a great setup to the fantasy aspect and can't wait to see more of it in the next volume! Also, the art is STUNNING!! Miyo.” He said her name for the first time in a voice so gentle that simply hearing it was pure bliss. “Would you tie my hair for me?”a b Hodgkins, Crystalyn (June 3, 2023). A stage play adaptation titled Watashi no Shiawase na Kekkon: Teito Rikugun Okutsuki Kitan was announced on June 9, 2023. It featured an original story, with Kaori Miura serving as the director and writer, and Taka composing the music. Akumi Agitogi, the original author, also cooperated in the production. The stage play ran at Theater 1010 in Tokyo from August 11–20, 2023. Oh, I read this recently and quite enjoyed it. It's a sort of Cinderella in a light-fantasy Meiji-era Japan.

me boy, he totally suffers from the "nice guy syndrome". He thinks he's the only one who can save the FL, and even considered a horrible thing as the only option, while thoghtout his entire life he just watched everything. He's pissed me off, A LOT Miyo must endure being treated like a servant by her half-sister, who, in contrast to Miyo, is endowed with the extraordinary talents of their blood. At the same time, her stepmother and very own father have no patience or love for her. insensitive man who dismissed his previous fiancées, likely in an attempt to get rid of her and have her suffer more. Obviously, as you would expect, Kiyoka treats Miyo in a way she doesn’t expect, and the relationship builds from there. Considered nigh worthless for having failed to inherit the superhuman powers of the bloodlines into which she was born, Miyo Saimori lives her days unwanted and unloved. The supernatural aspects were interesting for sure, and I’m sure will be developed in the future, with the upcoming OVA or perhaps in future instalments of this series if it ever happens, but I felt it somewhat took away from the more grounded relationship with Miyo and Kiyoka. The supernatural parts do give the series more flare and pizzazz, but I question whether all of it was necessary, as especially in the second half, where I felt the lore and the presence of Grotesqueries, besides being haphazardly implemented at points, also limited the time that could have otherwise been spent on developing the romance aspects a bit better, as well as Miyo’s character.the character development of the female lead, it's too fast, and too simple (if you consider the amount of trauma she's been through). There's a good chance this isn't worth continuing, but I'll probably do so anyway, because this has a few tropes I generally enjoy ("icy hero who turns into a softie for the heroine" is a big one). I really want to like this series, so I'm hoping one version or another (the anime maybe?) eventually makes that possible. I'll suppose foolishly keep trying until I don't have the willpower for it anymore. At least the manga (and eventually anime) version gives me pretty artwork. a b c Mateo, Alex (April 5, 2022). "My Happy Marriage Novel Series Gets TV Anime". Anime News Network . Retrieved April 5, 2022. The characters are not too fleshed out except for the two leads as this manga is currently only on its second volume. I will say though that what I have seen so far is very good, and a vast majority seem believable in their motivations and actions. It's written in a way where you are empathetic towards Miyo from the start, but it does not portray her in a way that makes her feel contrived or useless.
