Hoka Arahi 5: One of the best stability shoes of the year, and the best walking shoe as well. Versatile. Amphipod Hydraform Handheld Water Bottle: Perfect for long runs when you need hydration in the summer The first time I got hold of it, I fell for the traditional upper design. The mesh felt smooth, and the heel collar had a lot of padding to it. Putting it on, I was welcomed with a comfortable feeling. The fitting was snug, and the toe box was roomy.

Fit: A ( Really well done. Comfortable mesh that is reinforced well and still breathable enough for daily or long efforts)Skechers M-Strike ® technology promotes efficiency in each stride. This midsole configuration creates smooth transitions from landing to toe-off SKECHERS The midsole of the Go Run Maxroad 5 features Hyperburst foam. It is soft, incredibly cushioned, and very lightweight with significant bounciness. The energy return is magnificent, with no visible breakdown in this supercritical foam.

Peter: The ride is smooth and efficient with a good amount of cushioning. It is fun, but not laugh out loud fun. More, “gosh, I really enjoy running” fun. They aren’t wildly different from the Ride 9, but I think I enjoy the Max Road more. DPT/Footwear Science: B- ( While Hyperburst Ice itself is interesting, they lost a lot of the magic that made v5 so special. Kudos for price though) I couldn’t replicate it on purpose, but it happened a few times. If it was more common I’d just use the extra eyelets for a runner’s loop, which usually kills any heel slip issues, but it wasn’t enough to bother. They did include a heel pull tab - and unlike so many others, this one is very well thought out and very functional. We’ve reviewed more than a few shoes over the last year with really cool looking, and completely impractical pull tabs, so I always appreciate that. There are soft rubberized overlays on the lateral sides of the shoe, and they extend to the heel counter. They give the shoe some frills and structure. They also protect the single mesh upper from abrasion, giving it more life span. Peter: The Clifton feels softer but somehow more responsive and easier to push through miles. For sheer cushion I’d consider Clifton, for a bit more of a standard trainer on Max volume perhaps the Max Road. The Clifton has a better upper for sure.Derek is in his 40’s and trains 70-80 miles per week at 7 to 8 minute pace in mostly tropical conditions in Singapore. He has a 2:39 marathon PR from the 2022 Zurich Marathon. Jeff B: The Bondi has been the max king of the road for years, but I think it may have been dethroned. In head-to-head, the Bondi platform is wider, with the interior space is much tighter, especially in the arch and toebox. The MR6 midsole is miles better, feeling both more dynamic and overall much more cushioned. The Bondi upper is more breathable, even though it’s a heavier shoe.

Peter: Rebel V2 is in contention for my favorite shoe of all time. The Max Road 5 is really good, but it’s not quite the Rebel V2 for me. The Rebel is bouncier and more fun--though far less stable. Skechers M-Strike® เสริมประสิทธิภาพและความนุ่มนวลในการลงเท้า และกระจายน้ำหนักทั่วฝ่าเท้าได้มากยิ่งขึ้น HYPER BURST ® cushioning midsole offers a highly responsive and ultra-lightweight running experience. This innovative resilient foam is created using a 'Super Critical ®' process with spherically-shaped cells compressed into the mids Jeff: Agreed, the rubber pods do a pretty good job. As a heavier runner I may be overtaxing the shoe some, I can see some wear between the pods and some shredding of the exposed midsole around the rubber pods, but I don’t think it will lead to early failure. And that wear shows that the plate is doing its job, since I am still collapsing the pods on impact, but the plate is preventing the midsole from rising up and causing blisters with vertical oscillation.. Performance: B+ ( Great shoe for daily training and long uptempo runs. Snappy forefoot, but very soft heel prevents it from going as fast as it could. Heel bevel is extreme and can be clunky during warm up)

Derek: I wear US9.5 in both shoes. My comparison here will be quite coloured by the fact that the Invincible gives me hotspots under the balls of the big toe, which is put down to excessive pressure on that area due to the very soft midsole. I get them to around the 5-6 mile mark and by the 8th mile, I am just about ready to run barefoot the rest of the way home.
