Personally, I think the sight of hordes of chainrasp models look amazing on the battlefield. Especially when they’re swarming an unsuspecting enemy or charging through tight streets between buildings. We are a small team of Warhammer Enthusiasts and miniature collectors, hoping to support and further promote the hobby. I took home the Golden Spoon in a fun day with friends, and was largely impressed by how well the army did. It would be an exaggeration to say that I was going up against highly optimised lists, but I felt worried about my matchup in all three games, because Nighthaunt traditionally don’t have the damage output and had often failed in late second edition to impress me. That said, board control was the name of the game here, and I was able to keep my support pieces alive just long enough to take control of the centre in all three games while Mannfred ran rampant. Issue 24 / Lord-Executioner, Grimghast Reapers, Glaivewraith Stalkers (Soul Wars Sprue) New Nighthaunt Reinforcements! After years of collecting, buying and selling, building and painting, we realised that we had amassed a small library of Build Instructions, Assembly Instructions and User Guides for various Games Workshop products.

It’s also nice to see a large amount of customisation options available for this unit. There are a good few of each weapon on the sprues, which means you can have a nice variety of each throughout your troops. These were the Stormcast Underworlds; Nightvault core warband, but, have “cycled out” and are now only sold without cards as an AoS Unit. Although chainrasp hordes aren’t often seen in competitive play, they are great fun to see and command on the battlefield. Flooding the opposition when they’re trying to take an objective really is a sight to see.Kurdoss Valentian is described as an arch plotter and schemer, embittered and cruel, but an incredibly astute commander. Lady Olynder, The Mortarch of Grief Reroll all failed hit rolls for Chainrasps within 15″ of spirit torment or Chainghasts. This would be awesome if Spirit Torments and Chainghasts were just a bit better, as it stands the tax is just too high. Chainguard

Balefire Blade –Add 1 to the damage characteristic of a bearer’s melee weapon. Solid all around weapon choice. B Warhammer Community put out a great piece on the design aesthetic and origins of the Nighthaunt army. A link is in the notes below, but the points that jumped out for me were:

Nighthaunt Accessories

Chainrasp champions are known as Dreadwardens - the wardens of unrepentant souls. The candles they bear are like beacons to the spirits under their charge, casting a dread light that the Chainrasps believe will lead to their freedom. In fact, it is this eerie glow that helps bind the impenitent to eternal servitude. The Chainrasps may have thought death would be an escape from their terrible imprisonment, but truly, it was only the beginning. [1b] Wargear [ ] Mannfred was running wild after a slow start, giving the army a much needed threat that helped score bonus Monster points, give my opponent a headache with his teleport and go for the throat when needed with his ludicrously fast movement. All Death armies have a 6+ Feel No Pain save when wholly within 12″ of a friendly Hero. This is yours. From the Underworlds They Come but … I don’t think I’d mind if I’d doubled up - a few spare giant bases are probably cool. Issue 79 - Celestant-Prime ( 1⁄ 2) Issue 80 - Celestant-Prime ( 2⁄ 2)

Spectral tether –Casting Value 6. Heal a friendly Hero within 12″ for D3 wounds. You have access to a better healing spell through the Guardian of Souls, while this spell isn’t atrocious you do have better ways to heal. C+ Much more diversity in artefacts here, 3 tables with 6 weapons, 6 relics and 3 lanterns which are exclusively used by Guardian of Souls. Weapons of the Damned For my opponents, as I do tailor this list to hold up against them, it goes khorne player is running a 2 drop list with 3 bloodthirsters, one of which is skarbrand, the nurgle player is about 3 drops with 50 plaguebearers and 3 Great Unclean Ones, and the orks player is running a Big Waagh list that is near competitive so they say.So - they cast the sprues and slipped the magazine out without telling anyone. Issue 27 / Stormshire’s Cursebreakers Issue 27 - Stormshire's Cursebreakers The core book came with a lot of Battalions and so by sheer number a few manage to actually succeed and see use in competitive play. Nighthaunt Procession I always put a coat of Agrax Earthshade over the wood surfaces. The second “brown” darkens it down giving the result a nice amount of definition without … well … I just haven’t tried Nuln Oil over Baneblade Brown
