Description

However, our new Acura was shipped with the Mobility kit only Acura replaced their goo with Acura Sealant, and it says this on the label: The reason car makers include these mobility kits is they save weight and don’t take up valuable space. In modern cars, particularly electric vehicles, space is at a premium. And the area where the spare wheel once lived is often taken up with the battery or electronics. You’ll still need your alloy wheel key When you are driving the re-inflated tire, I would keep an eye on the tire after a few miles, to ensure that the tire is still full of air. If the tire goes flat soon, then re-inflate and drive to a safe location or car repair place immediately.

The Continental 450ml Tyre Sealant is suitable for use with the Conti-Mobility Kit fitted as standard to Ford, Volvo, Jaguar, Land Rover, Aston Martin, Nissan, Renault and Infiniti vehicles. You may also find that some garages are reluctant to fix tyres where puncture sealant has been used. This is because it can be messy stuff to deal with. However, there’s no technical reason why a tyre shouldn’t be repaired (assuming it’s legal to do so) if gel like this has been used. Should you take the tyre to be repaired, just make sure you mention to the technician that a sealant has been pumped in. We’re called out to an awful lot of punctures so how effective are these mobility kits? What is a mobility kit? There is NOTHING in the Continental sealant kit that will damage the tire. It's simply a watered-down latex product, is not caustic. It flows into the hole, temporarily plugging it.asimba2 wrote:Just FYI, the Continental Mobility kit that comes with the car states this warning about using the tire sealant:

The Dimensions for the Continental Conti-Mobility Kit are: 180 x 249 x 95 mm, and only 2.3kg in weight.Thank you for your very complete list of needed items... Finally someone who is practical and can find solutions that don't cost a fortune... Slime" is a different product. They are a different chemistry. We should avoid calling the Conti sealant "Slime". When using the Conti Mobility kit, you should pressurize the tire as high as possible, perhaps 40psi. Sealant WILL blow out of the hole. Driving 3-5 miles, at 30-40mph, will cause the sealant to solidify in the hole (air pressure plus friction) and the "hissing" will stop. If it DOESN'T stop hissing, the hole is too big , and in fact, you'll see that the PSI won't go anywhere near 40psi.
