About this deal

A better way is to create a small kink in the end of the eyepin, before you embed it into the raw clay. This way it cannot pull out after baking. Here’s an example of what I mean: Liquid clay is a pretty new thing as it was only introduced in the 90s. You can use it as an adhesive for two layers of polymer clay. Liquid polymer clay, including translucent and opaque, in clear and colours. Essential for creating baked clay to baked or raw clay connections. Recommended for adhering raw to raw clay. Also used to soften hard clay and to rescue crumbly clay. Use as a shiny or protective glaze, bake in a mould, use for pouring techniques and mix with mica powders for special effects. mica powders, microbeads, sand, glitter, sequins, tinsel, metal flakes, dried flowers, spices, fibers, small metal objects, and much more. Nature creations: Cast flowers, leaves, shells and ocean creatures for botanical and nautical crafts with our Flowers and Sea Life molds.

I will go into a more comprehensive study on each of the popular liquid clays and the differences in my next tutorial, but here are some of the ones I recommend, the cost, and where to get them:Resinsare quite hard after curing and are crystal clear. The surface will be extremely glossy and can’t be easily peeled or lifted from a project. While you can apply resin to curved pieces, it is an advanced technique, so I only recommend applying resin to flat pieces until you have a really good feel for how to use it. Resin is lovely on sparkly or mica-covered projects as it will intensify the sparkle. Resin is a rewarding finish, but it has a huge learning curve, and your first few projects will likely incur a few tears and swear words. Always apply resin after baking your polymer clay project. It cannot be baked. There are three types of clear-coat resins as follows.

used paint pots (the type used in kids painting sets where lots of different pots are attached together) It’s a bit misleading in the above photos, but all the brands DID get more clear after a heat gun was used on them, even the Fimo Liquid. But as you can see, it was Liquid Kato that had the greatest increase in clarity. When placed over print, you can clearly see through both the Liquid Kato and the Sculpey Clear. (I know the picture isn’t that clear. It’s hard to photograph clear things!)

Making charms, pendants, hair clips, bracelets, mosaics, butterfly wings, book covers, beads, flexible patterned sheets to fit into bezels, decorative tiles wether big or small, mirror & window clings, and other various shapes by pouring them into mold to create jewelry and pieces for home decor. From the research I’ve done, the vast majority of modellers seem to use chalk pastels to colour their clay. The great thing about using chalk pastels is that you can mix the colours together to create the exact shade you need for your model. Coloured Liquid Sculpey is available in the UK but it took me a while to find any shops that sell it, and those that do, don’t have a huge range of colours. Craft Cellar sell a couple of Metallic Coloured Liquid Sculpey colours. Perles & Co sell the Glam Metallics and Primary ranges – they’re a French company which ship all over the world and from what I could see, the postage was pretty reasonable. And that was about it for buying Coloured Liquid Sculpey! How Do You Apply Liquid Polymer Clay?

In terms of ratio, a good rule of thumb is do 3 parts liquid clay and 1 part custom medium for your special effects. If there’s too much custom medium, it may change how the clay behaves once cured so you don’t want to go overboard.I’m adding this as a catch-all category because there are some glues that can be used as a polymer clay glaze, sealer, or varnish. Mod Podge Best for: Sealing surface treatments, creating a glossy effect, and enriching translucent projects. Acrylic Varnishes With beginner-friendly Sculpey Tools™ Oven-Safe Molds, new clayers can cast intricate shapes and designs even with no claying experience. Pour liquid clay into our collection of silicone molds and bake to create magnets, jewelry and more in a wide variety of styles: Another often recommended glue, especially for jewelry use, is E6000. While it can be a very good glue for some uses, it does tend to remain gummy and never fully harden on polymer clay. Many people DO have good results, but many others do not. I suspect the issue lies with the brand of polymer clay or perhaps the age of the E6000. But don’t be surprised if you find that this glue fails for you.

When choosing which type of chalk pastels to buy, the artist grade ones tend to have more pigment than the student grades ones, so you can use less chalk to get the shade you want. Sculpey is available in various products, including Original Sculpey, Super Sculpey, Sculpey III, Sculpey Souffle, Sculpey Pluffy, Sculpey Super Flex bake & Bend, Sculpey Ultra Light, Translucent Liquid Sculpey and Premo. You can use Bake and Bond when making miniatures with liquid polymer clay – it’s fine to mix it with oil paints to create icing for example. Add sparkle: Elevate your liquid clay game with light-catching add-ins! Pour clay into a plastic cup and add sequins or glitter in different shapes like stars, moons and leaves. Customize your translucent formulas with mica powders, pigments and eye-catching metal leaf flakes.Kato Liquid is unique in that it can be made to be completely clearwhen you use a heat gun on it. You can do this after baking, or you can just use the heat gun to cure the Kato Liquid. If you do this with several thin-ish coats, you can get a remarkably clear surface treatment. Doing this will make the surface extremely glossy and glass-like. The surface will also be hard, eliminating the rubbery feeling and making the surface able to be sanded without balling up and peeling. Many people assume that baking longer times at lower temperature settings will solve this problem. It’s common to read recommendations in forums to set your oven to, for instance, 215°F (100°C) and bake for an hour or so. Will this work? Well, it might work for a specific person because they’re compensating for an incorrect oven. What they think is 215°F might actually be 275°F in their oven. But when others follow this temperature advice, they end up with fragile, brittle, underbaked clay. If you use a plastic container, just make sure it’s safe to use with polymer clay, as some plastic can react to clay and the clay will rot it. I’ve done a whole blog post about storing polymer clay correctly that you can read here. Replace the cap. The Liquid Sculpey ® bottle cap opening is adjustable. Twist it open just a little to make thin lines or tracings, or open it all the way to fill molds. Use oven-safe silicone molds to cast multiples of the same shape time and time again! Liquid clay can be poured directly into Sculpey ® Polymer Clay Molds to produce earrings, bezels, pendants, geometric shapes, lace details and more. Here’s how:
