About this deal

Cheeky Panda is a British company which sells bamboo toilet paper. Who Gives A Crap is an Australian company which sells both bamboo and recycled paper. Feel Good recycled toilet paper is made in the UK (although the company is German owned) and available in Tesco, Waitrose, Booths, and Ocado and is a new addition to the guide. Also new this time are Bamboo Bobbi, Bazoo, Bumboo, Greencane, Honest Supplies, Naked Sprout, and Serious Tissues, all of which make recycled and/or bamboo toilet paper. Nova Tissue makes the Soft on Nature, Gentille and Cushion Soft brands which are available online and in local shops. Just cut your empty loo rolls vertically and put them around the curtain rail between each ring to create perfect pleats in your curtains. You may need to cut the loo rolls to size to get a smaller pleat or use more than one loo roll between each ring to get a bigger pleat. The pulp is then mixed with a large amount of water and put into a machine that has rotor blades. As the blades turn, they act as a giant blender, mixing the water while also ensuring the wood chips are diced into very small pieces.

Did you know that at least 14 million tonnes of plastic end up in the ocean each year? This harmful substance is injuring and killing fish, seabirds, and marine mammals. The report also examines tissue brands, gauging the content of their tissue products using a sustainability scorecard. We asked readers if they used any alternatives to toilet paper and 35 people responded (thank you!). 11 used water in some way, 10 used a reusable cloth that they’d either bought or made themselves and one used cut up newspaper squares – some only used their alternative for #1s but most for #1s and #2s. Others still used paper but were trying to use less or buy an ethical brand. People’s reasons for switching were mainly environment related and because they thought it was cleaner. Less Water Usage: Our laundry sheets are pre-measured and concentrated, which means you only use what you need for each load of laundry. This not only simplifies your laundry routine but also reduces unnecessary water found in traditional liquid detergents. They market their products as good for the planet and make various claims about carbon reduction, avoidance of chemicals, and soil health.

Across the world, forests are being cut down to feed this market, with ruinous consequences for the environment, people, and wildlife. It’s not enough to consider how bamboo is grown or the properties of the plant itself. Turning the crop into toilet paper involves many processes, all of which have impacts that can vary depending on how they’re done. Three months in, the blue ocean initiative team was ready to hold a blue ocean fair. The entire Brazil executive team and KCB leaders from across Latin American gathered in a large ballroom of a Sao Paulo hotel for their blue ocean fair. They had two objectives: first, to select the strongest blue ocean move with the best profitable growth potential; second, to mobilize the willing cooperation and commitment of leaders at every level of the organization to ensure effective implementation. In total, almost 100 people were present including the blue ocean initiative team. When choosing to shop greener so we can keep our oceans bluer, it is easy to drown in the sea of information and greenwashing! But which eco-friendly product is best?

As the material used is critical for toilet paper, the paper sourcing policy is important. We rated toilet paper companies for their paper sourcing:Learn more & get your copy today! Crafty Critters:Crafts to Go More Easy Ocean Crafts Like This One: The United States Environmental Protection Agency advises that consumers choose recycled toilet paper containing 20 - 60% post-consumer and 20 - 100% recovered fiber. Wheat Straw A 2020 update of the NRDC research found that clearing of the boreal was continuing at the rate of a million acres a year to create products like toilet paper and that the biggest brands continued to make their tissue products from 100% virgin fibre. Toilet tissue, however, was invented by Joseph Gayetty in the USA in the 19th century. He built the first factory in 1857 that produced paper exclusively for toilet use claiming it to be a medical product and his name was printed on every sheet. A small amount of paper is produced using alternatives to chlorine such as oxygen, ozone, and hydrogen peroxide. This process is known as Totally Chlorine Free (TCF).

Today, toilet paper alternatives can help solve the environmental issues caused by unsustainable toilet paper production and consumption. Sustainable toilet paper Bleaching is used in the paper-making process to break down lignin – the substance that gives trees and bamboo their stiffness – and to whiten the end product. Cut out the shark fins and cut slits on both the top and sides of the toilet paper roll (be careful, this step requires help from a parent or sitter!). Push the shark fins into the carefully cut slits.

Ah, those two words we’re beginning to see more and more of across UK media. We already know that climate change is destroying the planet, but let’s look at what it’s doing to the ocean specifically. It’s not easy to say exactly who invented toilet paper in the first instance, as there were many variations and evolutions of the product across the 5th to 20th century. It’s likely that the first kind of modern toilet paper was produced in the 14th century for the Chinese Emperor’s family, and it became more widely available in this country in the 15th to the 17th century. During the 18th newspaper became the popular choice. Given the benefits of recycled paper, you’d think companies would be using as much of it as possible. But sadly, that’s not the case and the use of recycled paper by the three big companies is decreasing.
