While I’ve tried out a whole bunch of water treatment methods, I eventually settled in on the Sawyer Squeeze during my wife and I’s 2015 PCT thru hike attempt. The Vesica is a collapsible, reusable and light water bottle that behaves like a hard bottle for easy drinking on the move. Simply carry 1L of water and stow away when empty. In subsequent years while plugging in several sections of the PCT that we missed in 2015, my wife and I tried out the Katadyn BeFree paired with Hydrapak Seeker water bags. From that experience, we learned two things:I don’t use it this way, but you can also use a second Vecto as a clean water bag. This setup would imitate a Platypus GravityWorks filter, great for sharing a water filter among a group or filtering lots of water for use around camp. The Flux is a lightweight drinking bottle with a spill proof twist cap that is versatile enough for trail runners, cyclists, hikers and everyday users to enjoy. Great compatibility with Sawyer Squeeze.Tested with a lot of pressure and not a single drop seemed to get through any other part than the filter itself. This means it’s safer as you know no dirty water mixed in with your filtered water. Minor weight increase over Sawyer water bag: the CNOC Vecto weighs 2.95 oz for a 2 liter bag compared to 1.4 oz for the original Sawyer squeeze bag Some leakage from the cap. In my experience and that of other users who shared this in various forums, unless you tie the cap very tightly, you might see some leakage from that part. Obviously, the tighter you twist on the cap or the filter, the bigger the chances to damage the thread. Some leakage.Even though I have not found it myself, I have seen numerous reports of users complaining they did get some leakage when using the bags with the Sawyer Squeeze filter. This would increase the risk of getting the dirty water mixed with your filtered one.True enough in some cases, but not here. Also, the Flux does look more durable, but it is also 2-3x heavier per unit of volume held. More importantly for me though is the fact that it’s only holds 1 liter. That’s a real deal breaker, since filling the water bag and screwing on the filtering system to it is one of the major pains when filtering. I try to minimize the amount of times I have to fill the dirty water bag at each water source, and the Flux would definitely not align with this mindset. Nice to know it exists though!
