One tiny, teeny downside, though — when I was taking Accutane for my acne, this wasn’t such a good match for my skin. My skin was very dry and flaky and I found that this product clung to any dry patches — but in all fairness, I found that to happen with most products I tried at that stage. And the new version? In all honesty, the formula doesn’t seem to have changed (and I’m damn well pleased about it). It still covers redness instantly, neutralises my under eye circles and works its magic on even the angriest of spots!

Lasting Perfection Blemish Concealer - Collection Cosmetics

Collection have recently revamped this concealer, so I thought there was no better time to write a review. Does it still top my list of drugstore concealers? Let’s take a little look at my honest review of the Lasting Perfection Concealer… I bought Shade 5 Fair, Shade 10 Buttermilk and Shade 8 Beige. Before the new release, I had a routine of mixing Shade 5 (previously shade Fair) and Shade 10 (previously Warm Medium) together. It seemed to create the perfect yellowy-pale tone for my skin! I used to use this to spot conceal my angry spots and cysts. I’d apply a small dab straight onto the centre of the spot and blend it out with a clean finger or sponge. If a spot was particularly prominent, I would sometimes have to go in with a second layer — but after doubling up, the redness would always be gone. Collection claim that their Lasting Perfection Concealer is a ‘lightweight, second-skin matte concealer a smooth, crease-free soft base’ and I would say they’re being perfectly legit. No sales fluff here, gals and guys — this is the real deal! But considering thousands of acne-prone girls like myself rave about this concealer, I honestly don’t think the ingredients are much to worry about. Just make sure you’re removing your makeup well at the end of the day and you’ll be good to go! But, even better, the new shade Beige (a light shade with a yellow undertone) seems to do the job in one step now. So, instead, I’ll probably use Fair to highlight and Buttermilk when I’ve got a tan. Although designed to be multiuse, this product is also perfect for contouring, full face or targeted concealing, thanks to its infamous fluffy doe-foot applicator and stretchable formula. It’s recommended to focus on blemishes/spots, and areas with larger pores, as the niacinamide is added to help fight spots and aid in the reduction of pore size. As I said earlier, if I was confined to one makeup product for the rest of my life (god help me, let’s hope that doesn’t happen), it’d be this. Okay, my under eyes do look a little cakey here — but that was down to me applying too much powder to dry skin, not the concealer.

I can’t say I’ve ever timed the number of hours I’ve worn this specifically, but it has seen me through many drunken late nights out in my time!Gently sweep over areas of concern using the doe foot applicator. [Previously named 1A Cool Fair] Claims: Collection claim this is a ‘vegan, mattifying, full-coverage concealer that lasts up to 16 hours. Second-skin matte concealer that covers and conceals in one application. Stay confidently flawless with the full-coverage skin-like formulation. Perfect for camouflaging dark circles, discolouration, redness and more.’ Okay, so I know the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer is a tried-and-tested classic — but have I ever told you that, in my opinion, it’s the best concealer for acne of all-time? It’s definitely long-lasting, and I could easily go a whole day (say, 8 am to 8 pm) without touching up and still feeling content with the state of my face. As with most makeup products, it does show some signs of wear after a whole day of wear — it creases a little under the eyes and redness slowly starts to peak through — but compared to others I’ve tried, it’s still a winner.
