About this deal

In the snippets of the present, guests venture out of the marquee to determine who it is lying dead, while the other chapters detail the events of the day before, building up to the final reveal. I think it is quite clever that the mystery is not only about who the culprit is, but also who the victim is. You can easily believe it could be any one of them, victim or culprit. It is always better to get it out in the open- even if it seems shameful, even if you feel like people will judge you for it" As it is I’m afraid to look at the word count, which might have broken my 3800-word dissertation on Nevernight (at least that was positive). Yes. I know. Hannah’s dead sister. I give her that and trying to help Olivia, but only those things. End. Story. And that behavior, those insecurities, will run off a man really fast, both in reality and in The Guest List by Lucy Foley . Also. Readers. Because. ENOUGH.

The Guest List is a 2020 mystery novel by British author Lucy Foley. The story takes place at the wedding of Jules Keegan and Will Slater, which is being held on an island off the coast of Ireland. The plot has been compared to the works of Agatha Christie, as a murder occurs with limited suspects and each guest has a secret which will be revealed. Why yes, yes it can. There is a brilliant song by The Beatles called You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away (I’ll plug the video in before the spoilers). Personally I think Olivia’s “secret” is a little flimsy. I know she’s only 19 yo and has gone through quite an ordeal, but it annoyed me that she didn’t just grow the hell up and tell her sister about Will. I never tried online dating, but what’s wrong with doing it using fake identities? I thought people do that to fool around or for safety measures. I received this ARC from Netgalley and the publisher, in exchange for an honest review. I normally would of said Thank you at the start of that sentence. But on this occasion, the only thing to say thank you for was that it was reasonably short.I hate to admit, I am not fan of Hunting Party. That book disappointed me a lot. But this one is surprisingly good, I couldn’t’ decide if I gave 4 or 5 stars. I decided 4 slow burn, intriguing, smart, entertaining, riveting stars!

Either stay away from the person, step-up, and deal with it or whatever. But don’t keep repeating this cycle of being a martyr because it just ain’t cool. It isn’t cool as a person. And as a character? You are bogging down the story. Flood, Alison (24 February 2020). "The best recent thrillers – review roundup". The Guardian. ISSN 0261-3077 . Retrieved 6 September 2023. Our other characters: Helen (plus 1) married with bride’s oldest and best male friend Charlie, having doubts about their so intense and secluded relationship, mother, graphic designer at long maternity leave, suffering from traumatic family drama, having her own secrets, befriending bridesmaid Olivia. If I had to hear one more time how Charlie and Jules have been friends since they were kids? In the womb? I was going to make sure she was the first one offed. Kate’s mission to find the woman in the portrait her grandma gave her takes her to unimaginable places, from a peaceful home in London, straight to Paris and then New York City. She finally arranges a meeting with a secluded but prominent artist, Thomas on the Corsica Island but she has no idea what her future would be. She’s scared and sure that she had made a terrible decision. But the strong determination she had inherited from her ballerina mother keeps her moving forward. And soon, Kate learns about the dark past and comes to discover a profoundly romantic story spanning for decades. The writing feels natural and I was compelled to finish it, even though it kept me well past my nighty night time. The killer was Aiofe, the wedding planner. She was the sister of Darcey “Loner” Malone, the boy Will and Johnno pranked. but overall, this is a very enjoyable and addicting read! i look forward to seeing what kind of story LF comes up with next! Barbeito, Camila (27 October 2020). "The Guest List by Lucy Foley". Popsugar . Retrieved 27 December 2021.

Anyway, the only fault of the song is that, at only two minutes and eleven seconds. It is at least a minute too short because it is that good. But his constant self-pity, victim shit really got old fast. I mean I’m not going to defend Jules on much of anything in this book. But her vile hatred of Johno? This, I get. I’d hate him too. She has only known her fiancee Will for a few months. Just before the wedding, she got an anonymous note that said her husband “isn’t who she thinks” and she shouldn’t marry him. Yikes! Charlie Repetition: Hannah can’t make up her mind. This was their chance at a weekend away (her and her husband Charlie). Oh, but he hasn’t seen Jules in sooooo long, he should have time to catch up with her. OH, BUT HOW DARE HE! This is our weekend away together. And round and round and round the merry-go-round went. I was nauseous.

Lucy Foley is an English author of contemporary, historical fiction, mystery and fiction books. Prior to switching to full-time writing, Foley worked as an editor at Headline and later at Hodder where she was involved with young adult writers including Lauren Oliver and Laini Taylor. At some point, The Guest List by Lucy Foley (trust me, this is for your own good) went from a thriller mystery. Sorry. No. The Guest List was never that. I don’t care what the summary of The Guest List leads you to believe . See why I provided the summary? Because I KNEW my review would say HELL NO IT ISN’T.It is a chic-lit drama, fiction literary, melodrama with a murder in the middle of it. But I digress. Foley studied English literature at University College London and Durham University. [2] Career [ edit ]On a small island off the coast of Ireland, a scream rings out at a wedding party. As a search party goes out, the book shifts perspective to a few days earlier as we follow the bride (Jules), the plus-one (Hannah), the best man (Johnno), the wedding planner (Aoife), and the bridesmaid (Olivia). Who is in danger and who is the bad apple? Yes Olivia is 19 years old bridesmaid, half-sister of bridezilla, suffering from a big secret makes her lose weight, cutting herself. The secret is gnawing her. She needs to talk someone before she gets hurt herself. Could Helen be her confidante?
