In The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Nintendo builds upon the foundation it established with 2017’s Breath of the Wild. This includes the game’s unique set of controls. While there is some carryover, there are some fresh changes, too. You’ll need a solid understanding of the controls and button layout as you venture through Hyrule in Tears of the Kingdom. Basic controls - Tears of the Kingdom CJD87 Besides the comfort, one thing I like about the Split Pad Compact is that it maintains the design language of the Switch with Joy-Cons attached. It looks like something Nintendo themselves might have made if they had decided to make a bigger version of the Joy-Cons. I love my hori but had to switch to the Binbok since they have rumble and motion control. The d pad is horrendous though. Lol. I'm tempted to get a Split-Pad Hori Pro but I'll wait for a sale...if it ever does at some point. Just not the Zelda theme ones. InJeffable Yes the link you just sent is the one I'm looking at. The all-white looks really fresh, and will really suit the white/yellow compact joycons I already have from HORI.

Olmectron Yes, the split pad compact is not perfect for Zelda without motion controls, unfortunately I end up swapping them for normal joycons when I need that or use the Switch Pro Controller. I can understand the appeal of gyro aiming for TotK and why you'd prefer a controller that can offer that. Would you be interested in any of these Hori products? If we hear any updates about a local release, we'll let you know. Sheesh I've bought so many Split Pads from Hori, from Eevee to Sonic to Mario you name it. I'd be lying if I said I'm not tempted by these. This TomToc case looks great, and is exactly what I need. As long as it can fit a few game cards I'm grand

And i would like to get an OLED Switch too at some point even though the difference from regular to OLED is not huge. Big, not huge. But it is kind of pricey, it is 100 dollars just to upgrade. And then i might be too attached to sell my original Switch too, it happens. I did not sell my GBA when i got a GBA SP. As for the pro controller, I ditched that thing for the 8bitdo Ultimate for a while now… it puts the pro to shame. Nintendo Switch Online just added two retro classics, as Pokémon Stadium 2 and Pokémon Trading Card Game are now available on the service. Both games have been updated to feature online multiplayer. Not_Soos I have AC Switch. The joy cons are kinda pastel. I think they match the promotional image on the box, and that they look nice. I wouldn't consider them dingy. The only controller-related setting in the game that you can change is the jump button. The X jump button and the B cancel button are interchangeable. Minor Changes Can Be Made On The Switch Itself

The only negatives for me with the Compact is that they have no rumble/gyro (same negatives as the larger Hori pads) CJD87 I would happily swallow a 20% price increase as well, but I doubt it would be only 20%. One of the neat things about the Split Pad Compact and Pro as they are is that they draw such a small amount of power that they're powered by the Switch itself with no noticeable drain. If you start adding more components, you're going to have too much of a draw on the Switch's battery, meaning that each individual Compact or Pro unit would need to have a rechargeable battery. So, you've got rumble, gyro, and a rechargeable battery added to each unit. My guess is that the increase in cost would be closer to 50%. More detailed settings can also be made from Switch Settings → Controller and Sensors. However, note that this will affect other games. The Default Setting Is FineEDIT: also owned the switch pad pro and felt similarly to you just never felt comfortable and found the slim much better Here are the standard controls for Tears of the Kingdom, which cover Link’s standard movement and combat abilities. InJeffable Yeh 100% mate, and the split compact certainly looks "the part" moreso than its larger bulkier brother! That's why fans got excited when a rating for the game from the Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea popped up. We've now learned that this rating is for new Nintendo Switch and PS4 ports of Red Dead Redemption by Double Eleven Studios. Red Dead Redemption will release across both of those platforms digitally on August 17, with a physical launch to follow on October 13. As always, unfortunately the controllers don't have the functionality that you'd come to expect from the joycon or pro-controllers. It's a shame, since I really like these designs. MetalKingShield Hori Split pad, they've been out in other colours for at least six months. it's the same thing, just smaller. Also, this is my first comment here, since I just bought a Switch Oled and Zelda TotK on an absolute whim for the love of games 😄 and I've since bought a controller and a dongle to turn ps5 controllers into Switch controllers to play this beautiful game in as many ways as possible. And I can't stop myself 😂😂 any other paraphernalia I "need" as I'm new to switch? 😁

But if i would buy "stuff which are not just games", i would maybe be more interested in collectors editions and the very cool mario kart home circuit which i was pretty close to buy once when it was on sale but even on sale it was still kind of expensive, about 50 dollars (or the equivalent in swedish kronor). And i maybe needed to buy other stuff. Also, an SD card for Switch might be nice and maybe some amiibo. VoidofLight yes if it had motion controls and HD rumble(which TotK is likely to utilise) I'd buy the compact joycons in a heartbeat I'm 99% sure I want to get that, but would you rate it and recommend? (assuming this is the one you have) If you look into it, there are no officially licensed joy-con with wireless or rumble, only non-licensed. That to me suggests that Nintendo simply don't allow 3rd party products to have these features. One really impressive detail in this case is that it has a soft barrier resting against the top of the Switch console that keeps pressure off the Compact's shoulder buttons on either side. They really did think of everything.

They could add rumble and wireless to it, and I have no doubt they would, if Nintendo would let them. I bought a Split Pad Pro just to combat Drift. It's good - does what I wanted - but is a bit more bulky and cumbersome than I'd like. The model on the right does look more like what I'm after. I wonder what it's called (just Joy-Cons?) With the release of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom just around the corner, accessory maker Hori has announced a brand new line of products. Anyway, the Split Pad Compact case I have is the white tomtoc one. Really clean and slim design with a high-quality zipper. Definitely an option if you'd rather have a low-profile case. Those TotK ones are nice, but they're pouches. They have unnecessary bulk unless you plan on carrying a lot of your Switch stuff in them.A nice collection though. I only have the Switch itself but i might buy a wired gamepad. A cheap one probably. There are many nice ones from Power A with different pictures. Hard to choose just one. I understand why people might want to connect them. When he’s not paying off a loan to Tom Nook, Liam likes to report on the latest Nintendo news and admire his library of video games. His favourite Nintendo character used to be a guitar-playing dog, but nowadays he prefers to hang out with Judd the cat. Not_Soos on the switch pad fit (aka “slim”) I own a pair of the white/yellow ones and while it’s not a scheme it particularly found of I really rate them for comfort vs portability but no motion or wireless at all - ie have to be attached to switch at all times. There’s a gengar and pikachu/mimikyu special edition of these controllers too IIRC. While the new Switch OLED model is due to arrive on April 28, the Pro Controller, Carrying Case, and the game are set to arrive two weeks later on May 12. None of the three newly revealed hardware items come with a copy of the game.
