Quad Pixel sensor, the Akaso Brave 8 easily beats even the newest GoPro Hero 10 Black with ease in the photo department. Although the Brave 8 offers an easy-to-use interface with several video and picture modes and manual controls, the user experience has been bumpy, to say the least. I mostly shot in 4K 60fps as this provided the sharpest video and could be slowed to 50% if I wanted. It does a good job at cutting out unwanted sound, but it does make your voice sound quite flat and not too pleasing. You like to crop later: FreeFrame mode lets you shoot first them losslessly crop to different aspect ratios later.It’s good to see a removable lens cover on the Brave 7 – I’ve replaced it on my GoPro Hero 7 twice due to welding spatter and having it too close to an angle-grinder. You shoot in low light: Thanks to its large 1-inch sensor, the One R 1-inch edition gather light better than a GoPro. Connecting the camera to an app is a real lottery, often dropping out or crashing while in use, making the app itself pretty impractical to use in real life. The feedback is often confusing – after successfully connecting the app to the camera, the splash screen reads ‘Connect to camera’.
