In my opinion this products is designed to lock in hydration and smooth the skin rather than hydrate the skin on its own. Enriched with the innovative Peptide4 complex (inspired by circadian rhythms), the formula is developed to support the skin’s own "synchronised internal clock" and ensure moisture is sealed in during the night.

This overnight mask helps seal in hydrating actives, so your skin is softer and plumped with moisture in the morning. Like all sleeping masks (or sleeping packs), this product is designed to be used as last step in your skincare routine.

While I see the main purpose of the Elemis version in locking in hydration through their emollients, the klairs version has the focus on hydration as well as brightening.

I originally purchased this product as part of a travel set and wasn’t really sure what “an overnight facial” would be. Like most sleeping masks this is suitable for all skin types, although I think really dry ones will not find it moisturizing enough. Star Arvensis™ and speedwell extract join forces to soothe, protect and nourish the skin – leaving you with a refreshed, radiant and well-rested look when you wake up. I don’t use sleeping masks (or face masks in general) enough to warrant repurchasing, and should I feel the need for one, I would rather get the klairs version again next time.

But the few times I did use it, I realllly liked the way my skin felt in the morning and didn’t break out either. Let’s just agree on the fact that, should you want to avoid fragrance and essential oils, Elemis is not the brand for you, and quickly move on to what the Elemis Peptide4 Plumping Pillow Facial actually does.
