About this deal
Transformers: Legacy brings together fan-favorite characters from across the Transformers multiverse. They manage to keep the silhouette faithful and recognizable and the paint applications are clean with no instances of ugly, overdone colors that you might see with other studio series 86 figures. Only real complaints I would give this figure would be the slight lack of articulation on the ankles not having much of a bend in any direction making posing a little more difficult and the shoulders being ratcheted at angles that are too far out to do a basic standing pose with. This Studio Series 93 Deluxe Class Transformers: The Last Knight-inspired Autobot Hot Rod figure converts from robot to a licensed Lamborghini Centenario mode in 26 steps.

As one of the first non-repaint Transformers figures, Hot Rod was at the forefront of a new aesthetic. Hot Rod’s accessories are a pair of “photon lasers,” two grey plastic guns, that, interestingly, are actually slightly different sculpts. So, Hot Rod’s vehicle mode is a swoopy, curvy concept car, with a big, exaggerated spoiler in the back, giant chromed exhaust pipes down the sides, and a big engine block up front.

He comes with a lot of accessories which makes up for the deluxe class size really does feel like a masterpiece figure. They include storage for all accessories in vehicle mode except the matrix, they sort of just pile on top of the car but it is nice that it is included. Even if you don’t collect any G1, I still recommend it as a curiosity piece, or as a small vertical slice of “what mid-to-late G1 was like. Of course, the flames end up on the chest, the yellow spoiler flares up from the back, and the chromed pipes end up on the arms.ICONIC MODES: Figure features classic conversion between robot and licensed Lamborghini Centenario modes in 26 steps.
