I would think that with the direct drive extruder running only 144 g, it would not add substantially to the mass of the end effector and would not likely cause many print issues. There are many differences, but the main importance is that we will have a much shorter custom made geared hubs this will allow shorter dimensions and of course save some weight.The amount of plastic deformation depends on the tooths shape and how many tooths are into contact with the filament in the same time. It has something to do with inductance, inertia, etc - but I'm not an electrical engineer so I don't quite follow the reasoning.

Moved Hexnut in the cowling back 2mm so now a M3x20 BHCS can be used to secure the cowling from the back instead of a M3x22. LGX lite since this repeatability issue I have mostly seen with the LGX and LGX lite, the LGX lite being most affected. High gear ratio combined with high torque stepper motor allows it to achieve a lot of filament pushing force (8-10kg).I ran into the same issue with only one of those 5015 mounts fitting, but ended up going back to the dual 4010s for now because of the way the single 5015 mount blocks the tension thumbscrew.

There is a Version that aims to support as many extruders as possible, while needing as few printed parts as possible. As you can see all extruders performs great there is no visible difference between the print results.

That said: the majority of development is now complete, and I'm currently working-on increasing stability during auto-package upgrades.Neither Sherpa nor Sherpa Mini are successors to the Ascender extruder (though there is one in the making). Yeah, it could be redesigned with the same idea but not taking directly from the published drawings and files.
