Jonathan Emmett's words are funny and well paced, but for me the real strong point of the book is the illustrations.

And so, through Poly Bernatene's wonderfully dark illustrations we see him construct the ultimate scenario, including tigers, guillotines, explosives and trap doors. I must admit that the first time I saw this film I didn't think much of it but having seen it many times now I realise that it is a really nice film. When Bradley empties his Christmas sock to find only socks he does the most wicked thing he's ever tried to do! I love the fact that this films characters embrace what its like to live in Southern California in December. While many of them are good, I find this one the most outstanding in terms of sheer entertainment value.Bernadette's impeccable skill using dark colors and shadows enhance the sinister actions of a ghastly little boy. The whole system took me so long to build and test that I didn’t get into bed until almost midnight, by which time my bedroom looked like an enormous web, criss-crossed with gossamer threads, with me lying spider-like at the far end. Two characters Officer Calhoon and Officer Buckley are really good as are Shelley Long and Corbin Bernsen. Rosie was the first choreographer appointed Leverhulme Artist in Residence at the School of Anthropology, University of Oxford (2013). This book is a fantastic picture story, although some younger (more delicate and fragile) children may find the concept of blowing up Father Christmas and/or feeding him to ravenous tigers a little too upsetting. Santa (Dick Van Patten) is a jolly old soul, but that does not prevent Bill from thinking he is a burglar and he has him arrested and thrown in jail.So Bradley sets a trap, possibly the most creative, evil trap ever, just so he can take all of Santa's loot. This spoiled child has been getting socks from Santa for years because Santa knows he is a "beastly brat" but Santa is nice and feels everyone should get a present so Bradley get socks every year. Luckily for Santa, Bradley's evil plan backfires and he finds himself looking through the wrong side of metal bars.
