Contrast is well resolved to allow for those bright snowy whites without blooming or whitening out finer details. It's an all-around good time that, despite being new, has the feel and tone of the horror movies of old.

Film elements are in excellent shape without signs of age-related issues or any visible wear and tear. Waites, Peter Maloney, and Richard Masur are all interviewed for this featurette that focuses on their time on the set of The Thing. The reason that Arrow is the winner is that Arrow has the better picture, the better packaging, and the better features. John Carpenter’s The Thing arrives on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray with an excellent native 4K transfer with HDR10 grading.These aren’t really outtakes as we have come to know, but scenes that were added to the broadcast version of the film. The Scream Factory 2K scan came first and it was fine but had some revisions done to it including changing the colors of the flares for no reason. Because of the black and white contrasts, colors seem more vibrant and alive than had the film taken place in a colorful setting. The Thing has enjoyed a fruitful life on home video going back Universal's "Signature Collection" LaserDisc in mid-1990s.

Feature Commentary with Director Matthijs Neijnngen and Producer Eric Newman- This commentary will be deemed informative, interesting and fun by fans of the new and old "Things. But for all its many virtues (and believe me, I do think it’s a great movie), Alien is still just folks being hunted by a monster.
