Well, you must be thinking of the sediments problem that plague all AeroPress metal filters. But, ameuus filters are actually a lot better at filtering out loose coffee grounds than other competitors due to their smaller filter hole sizes. If you like to vary the flavor and strength depending on your day, a set of metal filters with varying sizes could be the best choice. Flip the AeroPress and start pressing. We prefer a slow press allowing us to bask in the experience.

They’re made of something similar to crepe paper, and they’re heavy enough they can be washed and reused. It’s reusable, and comes with a pressure attachment that can be used instead of the filter cap of his Aeropress. They’re theoretically indestructible, and can even be rolled or folded, though it’s not recommended. However, cloth ones require the most cleaning of all three types of AeroPress filters. So if ease of cleaning is your priority, you can just skip the AeroPress cloth filter. Since 2005, there have been 8 versions of the Aeropress made, so paper filters might be more compatible with all 8 designs, as opposed to metal filters that are more rigid in size. As a downside, they can be hard to find, and they operate as more of a traditional coffee filter than some of the ones that are easier to use.

These filters are also amazing at highlighting brighter floral notes of the coffee beans, especially when you’re using lighter roasts. As a downside, however, it’s one of the more expensive filters out there, and it requires regular cleaning for proper performance. Metal filters, on the other hand, can be used hundreds of times, so long as they are not broken, bent or damaged. When pressing the coffee, the resistance should be smooth. If it’s too high, your coffee might be too fine (and vice versa). This makes it rather similar to a cup of French Press coffee. (See more on the best coffee beans for Aeropress here.) Using the paper filter for the control brew went just as expected. The resulting cup was clean and light as most of the undertones were scrapped by the paper. Now, let’s see how this control brew compared to the AeroPress metal filters. You may want to start with the standard Aeropress filter, as it is one of the most affordable and easiest to find. It’s been rated by some coffee aficionados as the Best Value metal coffee filter for the Aeropress. And, if you’re looking for an even cleaner cup of coffee, you can pre-heat your paper filter with hot water before using it.

If this does not quite make the perfect cup of coffee for you, you can make adjustments based on your preferences. Ideally you want your water to be just off the boil, around 93-96C. Using a thermometer or temperature-controlled kettle lets you set the temperature exactly, but if using a regular kettle, boil the water and open the lid for about 30 seconds to a minute to let it cool down before using.

In summary I would say the Aeropress metal filter is good at one thing, and perhaps one thing only - the recipe that I recommended in my earlier post. Even then, the Concetto Fine disc will do this job even better! The grind of your coffee should be medium to coarse: make sure it is not too fine because this can get through the mesh filter of the cafetière.

Spark joy into your daily coffee routine. A statement piece cafetiere characterised by warm smooth curves, elegant walnut knob and exclusive titanium finish. Inspired by Scandinavian and Japanese design.Cloth filters generally wind up occupying the middle ground between metal filters, and are reputed to offer the clarity of the paper filter and the flavor of the metal filter. To determine the best Aeropress filter, you should also determine how fine you want your coffee ground, and how you want your coffee brewed, given the several different styles of coffee brewing available. What Do I Need To Know To Choose The Best Aeropress Filter? Considered a more environmentally friendly paper filter. These are chlorine free and biodegradable. For a combination of clarity and robustness, you might want to give the cloth coffee filters a test run.
