About this deal

Imagine there was once a pirate near Pipkins who had forgotten where he had buried his treasure............ Grannies aren't usually strong enough to lift heavy weights-even if they can roller skate. But Hartley discovers differently in this episode................ Unusually for a children's programme, there was no spin-off Pipkins merchandise (toys, games, books etc.) produced during the programme's run. Hartley thinks that Tortoise may be ill when he won’t come out of his shell, so he sends for Dr Stethoscope.

Hartley has trouble learning the words of a song because of all the noise Pig and Tom are making but when he tries to stop the noise, he interrupts the smooth running of Pipkins.... Johnny brings home a pet Goldfish. Everyone is fond of him, but sadly, he dies. Hartley wants to buy another one. Johnny won't though, until they find out more about how to look after fish.... Are the Pipkins making their housekeeper work harder than normal. Do they realize how much she does?.... Uncle Hare comes up from the country and discovers a public library: a place where they lend you books-even picture books for Topov who can’t read…Hartley loses his voice, but to make up for the peace and quiet, other problems arise when Hartley cannot make himself understood…. Michael Jeans & Susan Pleat were the main writers for Pipkins. Their creativity and skill in crafting engaging stories for children contributed a great deal to the show’s success. Here’s a list of the cast of Pipkins. Character Now that Johnny has left, Hartley sets out to fill the vacancy. He erects a notice which leads to Tom arriving. Hartley gives him a thorough audition. Tom passes with honours and agrees to come to Pipkins... Production Assistants LIZ HETHERINGTON, SUSAN FOREMAN, DOLORES SHINE, GLENYS COLLINS, MARGARET MADDISON, JENNY MANNION, EUNICE BIRD, SUE TAYLOR (trainee) Johnny has a cold, so Charlie comes round and does a few little jobs to help out. Hartley makes Johnny feel worse by saying that Charlie is so much better than Johnny, and Topov makes a complete mess of things by trying to copy Charlie….

As the weather changes, one gets too hot or too cold. But a hare can’t wear thinner fur, and a Tortoise can’t come out of his shell, so they have to think of other ways of keeping cool… Not every Hare has a dog in the yard, but Hartley finds one there. He decides that if the dog is to come and live with them, it might as well be trained to do something useful... Why is Johnny so sad? What can Hartley and the others do to cheer him up? And if they can think of anything, can they keep it a secret? Charlie asks Pipkins to look after a homeless dog. But he doesn’t tell them that the dog is enormous. Uncle Hare, however comes to the rescue……. Hartley has become too big for his dressing gown. How did it happen and what can he do to make himself smaller again? Can Pig's intervention solve the problems?

The card game Snap is great fun, unless you play it with Hartley. He has become a snap bore and get's close to cheating.... Signs are very useful, unless, like Topov, you can't read them. But even then, there are sins you can understand....

The new puppet makes snorting noises. He also eats all the time, often rather strange things. Hartley puts up with this for a while, until he finds drawings of food among his own pictures….. Hartley dresses up and pretends to be someone else, his dressing up costume provides problems though........... He has no idea where the voice and quirky mannerisms came from, but Nigel developed them over time as additional characters made their first Pipkins appearances, puppeteered by co-star Heather Tobias. It's Hartley's birthday- and there are lots of surprises. He doesn't know he's going to have a party ,a present, and a surprise telephone call! The Ostrich puppet is nearly finished. All she needs now are feathers for her tail. But where is Mr Pipkin going to find them?Uncle is coming to dinner so Mrs P and Hartley are busy in the kitchen preparing a meal. But a funny thing happens to Uncle on the way to Pipkins…

If you eat too many bananas, do you turn into one? Most people think not, but Topov isn’t so sure….. Hartley is worried. He’s not as tall as Octavia. He decides it’s just a question of growing. So he tries all kinds of ways to make himself taller.

Christmas Creamguide 2022: Week One

If there are three of you, it’s not much fun playing games for only two players. Especially if you are the third-and you happen to be Hartley. And Particularly if Pig and Topov are determined not to let you join in.. An old Glass Door 16th July 1973 Charlie the dustman brings some "useful junk" round to Mr Pipkin... and the infamous “ODD MAN OUT” episode, where a series of straightforward parlour games were invariably ruined by Hartley’s Freudian obsession with a fish-slice.
